Ghost Squad is basically the best arcade shooter I've played, and I'm so glad to live near Pacific Mall.

I just don't feel like I'm playing properly unless I pick the cowboy, though.

Yeah, ghost squad just made this gun add on a must buy, even if crossbow training might prove to be lackluster.

I would be very surprised if Nintendo ever released any light gun games on the Virtual Console. The VC is more of a "drop it off and forget about it" thing instead of a "make changes to a game" thing.

Sure, they've changed a few textures here and there, but to completely redo the interface? Not likely. Of course, a standalone Wii shooting gallery game (Like Point Blank) would be a guaranteed seller if it included versions of Hogan's Alley, Duck Hunt etc.
IGN acts like Duck Hunt was on the ESRB site for a bit, and Tin Star (uses mouse and Super Scope, but has gimped gamepad support as well) is on there still.

It took me almost two years to get Ghost Squad, I'm ashamed to say, and then it took me about a month to actually play it.

How much replayability can a three level game support? Quite a bit if you can unlock a cowboy outfit. Quite a bit indeed.

This has now jumped HotD and Time Crisis as my favorite light gun shooter.

If I ever got one I'd mod it to only hold the Wii remote. Cut the part where the nunchuk goes and it now becomes a one handed pistol.

So, Ghost Squad? Worth $20 in Goozex points? Or should I get a different light gun game? I have only the crossbow training.

$20? I got it much cheaper at Gamestop during their big sale recently. $20 seems a bit high.

    Pros:

    The game is awesome.
    Start with an assault rifle.
    Ninja Mode.
    Paradise Mode.
    Leveling Up
    Multiple Routes.
    Hilariously bad Voice Acting.
Some interesting challenges break up the normal shooting action.

    Cons:

Three Levels. Three. Levels. The only lightgun game on the Wii that is shorter is Link's Crossbow.

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect an old thread, but my question doesn't really warrant a new one. I just got a Wii for my family, and am going to pick up the Zapper and some of the games it supports, but I've heard bad things about the official Nintendo Zapper. Has anybody tried any of the 3rd party gun shells? What's best?

As of quite some time ago, the gun shells that are considered the best are either the PerfectShot or, incidentally, the Nerf one.

The PerfectShot is pretty good and really cheap. Its only caveat is a lack of a little pin at the tip to line up between the sites, and also it has a lot of 'give' to pull the trigger. But it's still pretty good.

The Nerf one I've never tried, but apparently the trigger is pretty excellent and it has a proper site. I think it's more expensive (you need to get the one without the game packed in with it if you don't want to overpay for the thing).

I have no idea if newer or better gunshells ever came out though...

edit: The advantage of the gun shells is comfort, but also calibration in games that support it for more true 1:1 shooting.

Also, the Wii Zapper isn't all that terrible as its reputation makes it seem, it just takes a little getting used to. It's fairly comfortable when you get used to it, and it allows you to hold the gun fairly stable. So it works well with Link's CBT and making quick successive shots requiring stable movement. Also, the Zapper is good for this game - Ghost Squad - because you use a submachinegun peripheral in the Ghost Squad arcade, and in fact with one of the alternate control schemes, the Zapper actually somewhat approximates the Ghsot Squad gun peripheral at the arcade, since it's a sub machine gun.

    .....hi...two year old thread.

I'll likely pick up the Wii Zapper one day on a whim myself.

I've never played any of the Wii lightgun games but I picked up Raving Rabbids (1) the other day and the shooting games are fantastic so I might grab a few soon.

Although now I'm tempted to get this.

    Tough decisions...

I mainly plan to get the Zapper for Link's Crossbow Training, though.

And is it possible to purchase the NERF gun sans game at retail?

Actually, if it were available here, this is the one I would want.

How ironic that a Target would be the best place to go to find a good deal on a gun toy. Pity that we don't have any around here.

Walmart just stinks most of the time, rarely discounting stuff. But I'll have to take a look.
