Sports injury

This kinda should maybe go in the fitness thread but anyways...
So i was playing sport and i took a fall on my knee i ended up doing damage to my tendon (the quadriceps i think)

anyways i cant play sport now according to my doctor (an orthopedic) for around 3 months and i have to wear a knee brace 24/7. the setting that the brace is on allows no movement of the knee. I'm in phisio 3 days a week

Anyways so my leg is swollen and sore but my problem is that i have a shitty metabolism and if i don't exercise regularly it starts to show in my lower abs (stomach) now i know if i don't play sport im gonna get fat. So what can i do to stay in shape without using my legs? just tons of sit ups or is there anything else (provided i can actually physically do the sit ups as I'm in too much pain to try)

thanks

You can get on the machines at the gym and do some lifting. Not a bad workout though lifting tends to make me put on weight since I get hungry afterwards. Pushups, various upper-body ball exercises are a possibility too depending on how your knee handles it.
