So, I was playing Bio-Shock earlier and the screen froze. I got mad because I just lost like an hour of play and turned the system off and left it. A couple hours later my brother starts playing and same thing after playing for about an hour the screen freezes. Should I be calling Microsoft now?
My console decided just recently to freeze 3 times while playing Two Worlds. I deny my console's death, especially with Halo 3 so close so I removed the Hard drive and all plugins and I am leaving it until Halo 3 comes out, one can hope this will help or that it's just Two Worlds freezing because it's stupid. One can hope...
I've had my 360 since launch and it just recently started having freezing problems with Bioshock and The Darkness. No red lights or anything, and MS is still going to fix it free of charge - I say call them up.
Chances are this is leading into a RRoD issue. but you might be able to last awhile before it gets to that point. it just depends on how long you want to push it and how much annoyance from losing game play time you are willing to deal with. if you call it in now you will get your box and the repair will probably keep your system out for the first week or two of Halo 3's release (if you are interested in that.) on the other hand if you push it as long as you can you might be able to get some Halo play in before you are forced to send it in.
The other issue to consider is that return times for repairs have gone up in the last month or so. Returns used to be around 2 weeks from the day you sent it out give or take, so if you are lucky you might be able to get it back around the time Halo hits. Then again if you are unlucky you might have your system out of play for 3-4 weeks. Outside of America is a whole other story as well.
I had a freeze while playing Crackdown once. It's been pretty fine for the rest of the time.
Don't know if a freeze is 100% RRoD sign, but I'm guessing regular freezing on all games is one.
Personally, I wouldn't consider a rare lock-up to be cause for concern. I had my 360 lock up on on Oblivion over a year ago (though it did RRoD a little over a month ago). If a game locks and you get artifacting on the screen, then the RRoD might be forth coming.

I figured. Obviously it's not something you want either way, but not every single freeze is a sign of RRoD. Of course, the OP is reporting regular freezing across the board, so...
If it makes you feel any better, my 360s been freezing very frequently for months. It rarely goes more than a half hour without freezing. But never a RRoD.
Which is a mixed blessing, I'll admit. I've been praying for that damn RRoD just so I can send it in and get it fixed under their special warranty. The damn thing won't just give up the ghost. For now I'm praying it will ignore my earlier prayers at least until a week after Halo comes out. I bet it'll die tonight just to spite me.
Sir_Michael, from what I've heard, maybe your 360 is being noble and killing itself to protect your sanity.

Its Two Worlds, not the system. The game is just a piece of crap and loves to freeze randomly. Every other game I have plays fine except TW...and Bioshock froze once on me. (well not once, but it was in the same place)
I had saved the game before a Big Daddy fight, killed him and then tried to switch weapons, and it froze. Every time I did the fight in that one area, the game froze when trying to change weapons, so im assuming it was the game, not the system.
And yea, Two Worlds, what a waste of money =/
And wait, you need a receipt from when you bought the 360 to send it in for repairs?
I think all they need to register your 360 is the ID codes printed on the back of the console. You can do that over the phone when you're talking with them. Out of curiosity, is your CD drive making harsh noises too?
Well, I just got back from trying to play some more Bio-Shock. This time it lasted about 30 minutes before dying. So Microsoft is getting a call from me tomorrow. Umm it makes a noise almost like its choking on the disc if that helps at all.

Anyone know the number?
That sounds exactly like my problem. Definitely call. The number is 1-800-4MYXBOX
Just called. Their shipping me a box. I asked where their located because I work in a Call Center as well and the agent I talked to said "For security purposes I cannot disclose that information" Like I'm gonna drive to wherever they are and demand a new 360 8-) Oh well, gotta wait until Friday for the box and then probably a month for the repair:(
Mine used to freeze all the time on LSW2. So much so that I thought the game had issues. I also saw lots of freezing in BioShock. Games still lock up on me. I am holding out to ensure a falcon mobo though. I want things to be fixed, not just temporarily not-broken.

Yes, it seems your 360 is on the way out. Check another game if you can, but I wouldn't be surprised if it 3RROD any day now.
Shit.
(You might be upgraded to the new falcon chip, so you wont have to worry after this).
I have had a Wii since day one my friend;)

Good, finish the fight then!

Well, at least the guy on the other side of my line was nice enough.

Yeah, I got the 360 two days after I got my Wii so two days after launch. So I don't have my reciept.

I think the issue here is that the Xbox has a track record. I'd be worried too if it was mine. I've had the occasional lockup, but nothing major.
