When we reported in July that an Anti-Piracy Gang Launches their own Video Download Site to Trap People and that the company was called Media Defender and, as anyone who aims to be a credible news resource would, we checked and double checked our sources. We said, with some confidence:
Media Defender, a notorious anti piracy gang working for the MPAA, RIAA and several independent media production companies, just launched their very own video upload service called “miivi.com”. The sole purpose of the site is to trap people into uploading copyrighted material, and bust them for doing so.
Unfortunately for Media Defender - a company dedicated to mitigating the effects of internet leaks - they can do nothing about being the subject of the biggest BitTorrent leak of all time. Over 700mb of their own internal emails, dating back over 6 months have been leaked to the internet in what will be a devastating blow to the company. Many are very recent, having September 2007 dates and the majority involve the most senior people in the company.
[From the emails] # REMINDER: “The Simpson’s Movie” premieres this Friday (to Torrents).
* Decoy files are available in torrents MDfile server.
* Use Public Trackers for pre-Leak releases.
* Create two new trackers for this project.
o Ebert to inform Torrents of these new machines.
* Send a list of 5 release names from each torrent team member to Ebert.
* REMEMBER to input torrent file into interdiction if a real Leak is available this weekend.
Here is a torrent for the emails, I'd get em while they're hot, who knows how long they'll be up for.

I was just mentioning in some other thread about Prince vs the Internet how the RIAA and other orginizations have no chance against the internet when it comes to stopping piracy, and this is a rather good example of it. This is very much a breaking story, so more details will be forthcoming.
tl;dr
RIAA caught with pants down, internet is going to make them pay
Posts
riaa sucks shit
Well put.
It just didn't work.
most of the people i usually talk to are offline now
so i'm touring second life in a sharp suit and black fedora
What? Because you post tl;dr a minute after I start the thread it didn't work?
I couldn't go five minutes without accidentally running into a babyfur club or a store that sells exotic vagina tattoos.
this is how i feel about the war in iraq:
A+
Also, Second Life is for losers who fucked up their first life and are too lazy to fix it.
But they'll be embarrassed
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
so
I'm still not clear on what the ramifications of this are supposed to be
Don't download stuff illegally because some of them are planted by the RIAA. I think.
I think the RIAA and the MPAA work in tandem
what with having a common enemy
that enemy being everyone
they want it all to themselves?
what is not satisfying about that
them getting away with it out of court/the penalties levied being miniscule to actual crimes.
That enemy being lazy shitbags who steal things, yes. I, for example, am not in that category.

You can give 'em a listen first, too, if you don't want to commit to the whole thing beforehand. I think the remix of One-Winged Angel absolutely delivers.
Movies and music are a no go and I'm very adamant about it.
Porn however...
I think you probably want to read the article again.
I never read it in the first place, and don't intend to
I really don't give a shit about this stuff
pirate emails from each other
read them aloud to the class
Edited to stop the dumb semantics debate.
1. Is what the RIAA, the MPAA, and the other oganizations of jerkwads did through the use of a front companty to do entrapment?
2. Isn't allowing people to use your site to illegally trade copyrighted material a violation of copyright law? becuase the RIAA, et. al. have sued companies for this before.
