KILLED IN ACTION (Part 1 of 4)
"Fresh Meat"
Training is almost over for our cadets. Some will graduate. Some will washout. And, yes, some WILL die! It all starts here, in the Initiative's biggest story to date! And with the clock ticking on the first class of recruits, get ready to meet the next batch! Including new Marvels, old Marvels, at least one SKRULL, and...THE IRREDEEMABLE GIANT-MAN? Also, with the Gauntlet out of commission, just wait until you meet Camp Hammond's new Drill Instructor... he's a real Taskmaster!

So they're not even bothering to hide the fact that they're sadists who hate kids anymore?
Taskmaster did train U.S. Agent, so he's got experience training heroes at least. And he's not really an evil guy, he's just very morally flexible when money's getting waved around. And I bet the Skrull hero's going to be the new Crusader from Marvel Team-Up. Just a feeling.

I was thinking somethign happened in Runaways and we get their resident Skrull on the team.
Tasky also trained Agent X or whatever you call him.
edit: Just checked out the solicits. Apparently Swingshift, the FCBD Spidey issue by Slott is getting rereleased and embraced as canon. Also, the sign on the JJJ board of one of McNiven's covers says "Masked Meance" and another says Spiderman Returns. Wonder what prompts the return sign? And the JJ sign just screams Mini-Marvels "His mask is back on, we dont know who he is again!".
Id guess the Hitch cover isnt finished with colouring. Probably just a prelim flats type preview like that Green Lantern Cyborg Superman cover released months ago. It was similar to that one and then a couple weeks back the official one came out and it was all digial colouring and purty like.
Huh, I didn't even notice that. So after all the hoopla do they even bother to try to explain why no more black suit? "Oh, Aunt May's getting take care off and the Kingpin got beat up. I'm happy again!"

It's kind of a stretch, but I think he took up the black threads just so he could make whooping Fisk's ass a little more poignant.

The whole reason he put it back on again was as an intimidation tool to send a message to Kingpin and his cronies.
He's done with the Kingpin now so he's done with the suit.
But no he's not happy again, since One More Day is about his increasingly vain efforts to save Aunt May's life.

The whole reason he put it back on again was to cash in on the Spider-Man 3 movie black suit appearance and had nothign to do with the story or his state of mind as he is further down the tubes now and back in the red and blue.
.
Fixed.
Those previews make it look like he beats up Dr Strange for not helping him or something.

If it makes you feel better, I kinda of agree. The black suit really made no sense at all.
I didnt mean to insult you if you took offense. It was more a changing your answer to reply to the other guys question. I read Back in Black. It was enjoyable and had some decnet moments but could have been done in 1 or 2 issues tops and had been done many times before in previous Spider-man stories.
The only reason I can think of the black costume being used despite MJ hating it and forbidding him from using it because it made her scared of her own husband was that they watned it for the movie tie-in. Having Peter switch back to the red and blues for no reason for OMD confirmed this. He is falling further and further and is going lower than he was in the entire BiB as he is lashing out at friends and family now. If he supposedly only switched to black and white for the emotional aspect, I cant see any reason for him to switch back to red and blue.
Sorry you took my joking comment as a personal insult.

Actually that was my mistake, for some reason I thought you were the same dude who asked the original question.
Although I still disagree that he changed back to the red and blue for "no reason"
I guess it's supposed to be Tony putting on a set of the old-school armor, according to the snippet that goes with it.
Edit: DP, those guys should not be your "buds." Anyone who dislikes Dan Slott hates freedom.
He better not be wearing some sort of 'ironic' T-shirt. Cap was right or some shit... Also are the Avengers teams gonna kiss, make up, and share team mates?

This is a bad cover.
I expect more out of Hitch.

Especially Ares.
One More Day has him back in the blue n' red.

Too bad a couple of my buds at the local store don't read it because it's "conservative propaganda".
Haha, Stark haters.

Wait, what? It's pretty much the exact opposite of conservative propaganda. O_o
Clearly these people are idiots.
I don't care what anyone says, the appearance of Jackpot in continuity is cool.

And he was all "yeah I can fit that in"
But JMS at least made an attempt to incorporate it into the story and explain it.
It wasn't a great arc but the black suit stuff wasn't what I had a problem with.
