Hmm, I'm pretty sure you glow your team colour when invulnerable, regardless of whose medic does it.
I keep forgetting to screen-grab cool moments. I've got a shortage of the damn things in my screenshot folder... and I do wish the game could highlight events other than your death sometimes, because a lot of the time what you get is just some sniper at a window or a soldier reloading while running round a corner. Yeah, wow.
In other news, snipers sure seem to be using their SMGs a lot lately...
I'm wondering what pro gaming leagues are gonna open up and host some TF 2 action the earliest?
What are the best ones with the most prestigious/skilled players?
What do you expect the rules to be?
What happens if you're disguised and you use the taunt button? Will the enemies see you perform the taunt correct to your disguise?
I was thinking a cheeky taunt could have helped my spy charade a lot yesterday, when I was running just behind the enemy party who captured my intelligence.
Instead of playing along, I got angry that I had failed to backstab them in time, pulled my knife in frustration, and got minced by turrets.

Also: SPIES NEED TO BE ABLE TO STAB WHILE INVISIBLE.
I play as a spy, but even I admit that that would be so fucking unfair.
Also, shame about the taunt thing. But I agree that crying 'medic' can often works wonders.
Incidentally, what the hell are you supposed to do as a spy when an enemy medic ubercharges you? It happened to me and I freaked out, and died shortly after
I play as a spy and just call for medic when I'm injured, it helps with the charade. So taunting shouldn't be a problem. EDIT: Maybe it is a problem.

GAH.
No. Please no. A THOUSAND TIMES NO.
I've had some of my best runs as a spy, but having them able to kill from stealth would be ridiculously unfair and crippling. The Spy is all about subtlety, he's not supposed to be able to run through the map one-shotting everyone in his path and getting away without anyone being able to do anything to him.
I'd prefer it if hitting the attack button while cloaked would decloak you, instead of having to get into lag battles where I wrestle with right click and find myself cloaking and decloaking in quick, accidental succession. Then I could keep running after my prey and the moment I've finished decloaking, wham, the knife descends into their spine...
So how do you reveal spies now apart from shooting flames everywhere? Does the scout still reveal them somehow? I think I recall the scout yelling something like "Looks like we got ourselves a spy", but I couldn't be sure.
The pyro is a melee class with slow speed and little hp and no secondary fire. That is just wrong
Except he's one of the faster classes and his "melee" has a continuous damage effect (unlike actual melee weapons, which only do damage at the end of a swing) and a dot at the same time.

This I could approve of, but he still needs to keep his de-cloak time before a kill.
I've also had more than one occasion where I've tried to de-cloak just before my energy runs out and accidentally ended up re-claoking for a fraction of a second. Try to decloak from that and it happens again. Enemy pyros line up and ask who wants to take the first shot at the disco ball.

Yar, that's what I was thinking. The current method just seems a remarkably clunky way of operating (not that the spy's got much going against him in the first place).

gg.
nope, you can only taunt when not in disguise.
You can actually taunt when disguised as an enemy spy.
The Counter-Terrorist! He packs an assault rifle that's essentially a souped up, more accurate incarnation of the Sniper's SMG. And he lugs around a couple of Flashbangs, that blind enemy players for a brief time period!
And he'd get absolutely slaughtered by every other class in the game, because he only has 100 health!
I still play Insurgency (because I loves it), but man, when I just want to have a wild time, TF2 is it.
Yes it is. It's a multiplayer game that I'm finding surprisingly easy to play casually (although it still keeps me up late at the moment, I won't deny that. )
I guess I should start the PA competition thread?
I can't say I'd likely be able to take part in any league. I play when I've got the time to.
I'm sure everyone else would appreciate it if you'd quit stalling though. :P

And the flashbangs should be much more effective on teammates than the enemy.

ahahahah, it's the reason i stopped playing as a spy, but that sir made me laugh good and proper
Nothing, it's just something I'm tired of from realism games. If you're trying to be realistic in your game, there's a whole lot of other stuff that breaks it. Having a crosshair so you can actually see where you're shooting never really struck me as a particularly bad compromise.
As a spy I have found to always cloak as a engineer. People don't seem to question why an engi is in the back fo the base and doesn't really participate in firefights

For the people who bitch about sentries, I think you should be bitching about map design and the sudden death mechanic. The maps feel like they were made with extreme linearity in mind, half the fun of the original tfc was figuring out odd routes and things.
They've removed this for the most part. You can't rocket jump up into windows most of the time, you can't hop over most obstacles because of invisible walls, there are no alternate routes when you come up against the last two cap points on well because they removed the water in what used to be the "flag" room. You used to be able to get up top without needing to go through turret hell first.
On the flip side, this also means engineers have very few cool choices for places to toss up a sentry gun. Half the fun used to be getting one setup on a wire, or fence, or a tiny overhang... maybe getting above the big doors in well or under water.
I think increasingly, it's becoming obvious to me that the remakes really don't have the same snap and flow of the originals because grenades added a lot of versatility to a lot of classes. This isn't an argument for grenades (cept for the soldier, he has em on his belt!) It's a suggestion that maybe their map design philosophy needs to be updated to match the new gameplay mechanics.
The map design is fine by me. I found that some of the "fun" things you are describing in TFC to be more exploit than strategy. If you listen to the commentaries, they talk about map design. Every sight-line has a work-around for snipers, for instance, as well as an opponent sight-line for the enemy sniper. Engineer sentry spots also usually have an alternate route for players to counter. There shouldn't be a place where engineers have to place something juuuuust right to get the turret on a glitchy map_object.

and every class outperforms him at everything except spy catching. Like I said, i want to love the pyro, but he needs some work.

A little while ago in-game someone said they had a great screenshot of me on fire. Now I can't remember who said it. But I'd like to see that shot!
It was me! I forgot to download a tga converter last night and put it up, though. I'll be sure to get it up tonight. It's actually the only SS I've taken so far, but it was so hilariously awesome it almost makes the you died freezeframe worth it.
I'd also like to throw out some quick thanks to Bombadier and all the PA people for giving me an awesome server to play on. The first few days I was really bummed from all the changes Valve made to the game that made me a gamer (TFC). Now that I've got that out of my system, I'm really having a lot of fun and I think it has a lot to do with the server.
anyone who sent me updated/new server info for the OP can you re-PM it to me. had to clear out my inbox because of phalla and went "oh shit" right after I did it.
Being a melee class is a huge disadvantage in TF2. The Pyro's main setback is bigger and more crippling than any other class. In exchange for only being useful in a limited set of situations, he should be really god damned good at what he does, and right now he just isn't. The flamethrower is not a fast killer in unideal circumstances, its range is glitchy and the flame DoT vanishes instantly upon contact with a medkit or healbeam(makes him even more crap on offense where the enemies are right next to a resupply or dispenser). Valve needs to either reduce his weaknesses with longer range, or improve his strengths with better and more reliable damage.
