I think this game is FANTASTIC, but I have one SLIGHT problem: I have no clue how to use my flying units!

Okay. I wanted to screw around and take on the world with my nukes... But they don't move anywhere! Their movement total says "1" so they should at least move one square at a time, but they don't do shit. I right click every where and they do nothing at all. Even when I build fighter units, they only sit at their city, and I can sometimes move them to my carriers, but even then it's by chance.

I've read online that it's like CivIII, but I remember in CivIII I could just make a unit and move them around on the screen easily. Bah. Can anyone explain it to me? I'm really wanting to nuke those damn Japanese.

If I remember correctly, you now have to give your flight units "missions" rather than actually moving them. So to use a bomber to attack a stack, you'd select "Bombing Mission" or something, then select the stack you want to attack. Same thing goes for fighters. And if you want to move it to a different city, there's a "Rebase Mission", IIRC.

Yeah? The problem is I have no idea how to assign these missions. The fighter planes have stuff at the bottom but I can't figure out how to use them, everything is red (which means they wont go or do that).

The ICBM just sits there and won't do a damn thing.

The commands in 4 can be confusing sometimes. I strongly recommend checking the manual.

Flying units aren't like other units. They have an area where they are effective and can only perform one mission a turn. One of those missions is "rebase unit" where you can move it to another city or a carrier or whathaveyou. Bombardment reduces defense bonus (like sieging) and Attack Unit does damage directly to the unit. The default/sentry activity (fly intercept mission) gives them a percentage attack to drive off any enemy air unit that attempts to bombard or attack a unit/city in its effective range.

are your planes in range of a enemy unit or city? maybe your targets are too far away, grab your plane-loaded carrier and park it in the coast of an enemy city.

Also, i think planes will not kill units, they will drop their health to 10% or something, but they wont finish them, so maybe your targets are too weak, thus the planes wont attack.

Hmmm... That makes sense I suppose. I wish they'd move like normal units... This seems too complicated, but I suppose there's a reason for his madness.

Any ideas on the nuke though? It doesn't seem to have any available missions for it, and they really aren't doing jack. One enemy territory is about 5 spaces away and it still wont attack. If I have to get closer than that, then it's pretty f'in useless.

No, with the person you're trying to bomb. Then there'll be a big red button to push.

I am. And when I click the button it has me choose a location. I highlight a location and click and it does nothing. Le sigh... I just want to nuke the Japanese for breaking up our trading agreement!

Hmmm, reading the manual (found one online) it says nukes have unlimited range. D: Why isn't it firing? Bah. My guy's probably being too nice!

We're down to two options left.

A.) You're trying to fire into unseen territory (ie, the fog of war).

    B.) You're insane.

I want to fire the nukes off, but I can't.

I click and I click but they don't get off the ground.

Its my curse, its my fucking curse.

I WANT TO FIRE THE NUKES OFF.

You wouldn't be saying that if I had some nukes!!

And that helped, thank you. The fog of war is what was getting me. Oh well, I used some bombers to fly ahead to see some of their towns and BOOM! Laid waste to the entire country of Japan.

Unfortunately the rest of the world didn't like that and tried to retaliate. Then I commenced Operation WTFBOOM!!

Thank you for your help. :)
