For one of my classes I need to volunteer at a place that is involved in psychological care. I got hired at a place that specializes in children's services, working specifically with girls age 13 to 17. Today was my first day and i got to meet the people I'm going to be "helping".
Man, they are crazy.
Most of them have histories of sexual or physical abuse. One of them is a insane cutter. As in she spends most of the day looking around the parking looking for glass to cut herself with. If she doesn't find any she uses sharp rocks instead. Another girl is convinced that they employees are trying to turn her into a lesbian. One wants to get pregnant by the guy who knocked up her sister, and she wants to get preggers immediately, another one is a huge whore. And one of them is a cute little girl who doesn't ever stop talking. Ever.
So what should I do? Hit them with a sock full of quarters until they aren't crazy? Provide excellent care in the hopes that they might one day be normal? Train them to be personal servants?

She went to a animal shelter to help out and came back with visible hicky marks all over her. she said the guy was 17. They shelter says the guy was more like 40.
