A much improved looking NiGHTS gameplay trailer - in fact, it looks quite beautiful in motion:

Youtube link in case Gamevideos crashes again (looks much better in Gamevideos link though):

I might have to change my initial thought on the game, although I'm still not sure if I'm sold on the gameplay.

IGN has the impressions of NiGHT's control system:
The Wii version's controlled via the Nunchuk's analog stick, and the Wii remote's only being used for its buttons - no waggle. I hear that the game will have many control schemes, including Classic Controller support as well as one that uses the Wii Remote's pointing function, but at TGS it was Nunchuk/Remote exclusively.

IGN impression of NiGHTS TGS:

And I have to say that, though the game has had its rough ups and downs and never really came across as a "high quality" Wii game in screens and early video…the demo that's here brings back that ol' Saturn feeling.

Yeah, it actually looks really smooth and nice, though I wonder if the person playing was having a little bit of trouble with the controls.

Looks to be everything I ever wanted from a sequel. I just hope that bloody alarm clocks gone.

They took everything that made the Saturn version beautiful, and made it better. I've got a very good feeling about this. For this and SMG, I'm gonna get myself a Wii.

God that video pisses me off. The people playing are awful. It's like they have no idea how to play NiGHTS.

The tracks look good. Seems Sega still knows how to design levels (i.e. everything flows with links) but damn those people suck.

Most gameplay videos are seemingly taken by people who suck. :/

Yeah, I kept wanting to tell the guy playing it "Hey! See those big ring things in the sky? FLY THE FUCK THROUGH THEM ALREADY!!!". I was also annoyed with all the people who kept walking in front of the camera, and thus blocking the view.

I stopped watching the video because of that. It seems silly, but it was driving me insane. The game looks fantastic, though; definitely a must-buy for me.

what do we know, if anything, about the control scheme?

maybe it just takes a while to get used to it.

I'm even more excited than before, if that's even possible, thanks to the video, but I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed by the controls. It seems to me like NiGHTS would be such a perfect fit for motion controls.

I'm guessing that whoever was playing in that video had never played the first NIGHTS game. Didn't get the whole idea of chains and picking up the blue chips and whatnot.

The one thing that makes me sad about this new NiGHTS game is that you won't be able to use the old Saturn analog controller with it. God, I loved that big ole donut. It worked perfectly with the game.

Speaking of NiGHTS, whoever ends up as my secret satan is most likely getting my saturn with the game. I don't really ever get to play it, even if I do love it. I'll have to check to see if it even still works.

I'll definitely buy this new one though, maybe my mom will like playing it, it would be nice to get her to play something besides Mario Party
