don't know about the games, but the comic stores around here have been using the US list price for the last few months. so suck it, I guess.

Also if I bought it here I'd have to pay shelfprice + 13% (6% national sales tax + 7% provincial sales tax)

so $50 from the states costs me $51.50
$50 here would cost me $56.50

Yeah.. but we have the largest oil reserves outside of the middle east. Mostly in the oil sands in Alberta and with the price of oil where it is at ($80) it's actually profitable so we are cleaning up.

Keep in mind though.. that western Canada is doing this.. everything east of Manitoba is actually dragging the economy down.

The united states still has pretty astounding oil reserves, though, as well

Between Texas and southern Wyoming, the reserves in Alaska and the oil fields in eastern California, arizona and new mexico, we're not that far behind Canada.

America has the largest deposits of oil shale, natural gas and coal in the world. It's just the price of oil is still reasonable as compared to excavating and processing the others.

Congrats Canada, you are now a Global Player. All this will do is circulate the U.S. dollar more to a new player in global economy. However in 5 years when the EU euro becomes as strong as the pound, then the U.S. will turn into Mexico of today and there will be much looting and pillaging.

Get your guns now. And boats ! We are going to have to flee to Europe and become their illegal immigrants.

The problem is that to get the oil from Alaska to American gas pumps would not necessarily be cheaper then dealing with OPEC, and you would have to tear up some pristine lands to do it.

In the end, it would not help the in the short term crisis of "oh shits, the middle east is a powder keg and we rely on them for the bulk of our energy". Long term...maybe.

America has a shit-load of oil. Problem is, we won't go after any of it, for a bunch of varying reasons. Alaska? Caribou. California? Too expensive. Texas? Okay, we're working on Texas.

Mostly Alaska. There is up to 16 billion barrels worth under the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge alone, and there's more throughout the state.

We have a shit load of oil shale, not necessarily oil.

On a total energy balance though, between the oil we have, the oil shale reserves, natural gas, and coal...we're actually pretty OK for energy compared to other first world countries.
