I'm interested in getting a lingual frenectomy. Anybody have any experience or anecdotes they'd like to share? I have absolutely no idea where to even begin here.
Lingual frenectomy, you say? Why I had me one of those! My tongue string or whatever the hell you want to call it was very short, and since I played the trumpet, it could get irritated banging on my teeth after a while.
It was a pretty damn easy procedure- they just did a local anesthetic, went in with some kind of snipper (it might have been hedge clippers? I'm not sure...) made a snip, and sent me on my way. I had it done when I was in High School, and actually went straight from the Doctor's office back to school to take my Tech Ed exam. You have to hold a swab of cotton under your tongue until it heals up, and it stings a bit once the feeling comes back, but I didn't find the discomfort/care to be anywhere near as intrusive as wisdom tooth removal. But it did blow having to swish salt water a couple times a day until it healed.
Is there anything particular you were wondering about it?
