ITunes Q

Ok, so I am trying to rip one of my CDs to my Mac. Using ITunes, I use "convert to mp3". The bar at the top goes across, then I get the *ding*, but when I Get Info, it is still not an MP3. Am I missing something here?

PM me if you add any of my codes

Does it say the format is mpeg - 1 layer 3? What format is it in?

What option are you using? Are you hitting Advanced>Convert Selection to MP3? That will just take a song in your library and make a new MP3 of it keeping both files. What you should be doing is going into Options>Advanced>Importing and change "Import Using" to MP3 Encoder. Try ripping the CD then and you should get MP3 files.

It doesn't sound like you're looking at the track in your Library, but rather getting info on the track on the CD. When you click the large Import button in the upper-right corner, it will convert everything into whatever format you have selected in the Importing prefs and stick it in your Library - but if you continue to get info on the CD track it will still read as - well, whatever a CD reads as (not sure).
