Apparently they had another game, Chaos League, which sounds kind of similar, but I've never heard of it before.
It was basically blood bowl without the bloodbowl. Supposedly they got into a legal fight due to it's similarity, and they walked away with the rights to make a licensed bloodbowl game.
I'm definate one of my games design teachers worked on this/A boodbowl game as he showed us a buch of pre-production stuff like early gameplay videos, level models, concept art, etc in class once. It was a cancelled project from Warthog Studios but it looks like some other company must have picked up the lisence or just carried on with their game.
As long as they don't fuck up turn based mode this will be the best multiplayer game ever...EVER. I do wish they has a few more races and maybe a stunty mode though
Good stuff, but I was talking about the first movie.
Which actually has nothing to do with this Blood Bowl game, for which I'm very happy to see that skaven will be included.
well I've never watched the movie either
also skaven smell
It's the musk of victory you smell as the chittering horde swarms over you, man-thing!
(unless they're losing then it's the musk of fear and they're running away)

God damn that's some good lawyering.
I recall it being more like Games Workshop seeing what they did and offered them the license. Which may not be true because that's rather charitable of Games Workshop, who tend to be not so much charitable.

Musk of Fear? No such thing. You must be confusing it with the Musk of Being-Smart-Smart-and-Making-a-Tactical-Withdrawal.
Pretty sweet, me myself I would have been open to a real-time interpretation, but its all good. These are the guys that did Chaos League right? Hope they got better..
Those are placeholder graphics right? The game cover in the stands and the really basic scan job of the dwarf emblem on the grass?
Still, BB officially online, that can only be good, and if it follows one of the good sets of rules (they fiddled them a lot over the years ) then we're golden.
This works as both a real-time sports game and as the more traditional dice-rolling, square-counting, model-moving, chart-searching, wobbly template-holding Blood Bowl that we've all come to know and love. I can only guess that the two games are vastly different in how they are played.

They wouldn't even have to make a tactical withdraw if the clanrats weren't cut down so easily. Obviously a rival sent worthless slaves instead.
Here is a short video of the game, but nothing really happens. They just pan around showing the idle animations of some of the characters. Looks nice though.
Also, one of the Cyanide guys posted on their Blood Bowl forum that the game would be coming to the DS as well and maybe the PSP. No 360 for now though.

That video would be a whole lot better if there was some actual game play in it.
Hell, yes! I'm currently playing Chaos League as a Human team and I'm having a blast. I was kind of worried that Cyanides Blood Bowl game had become vapourware but for once I'm happy to be in the wrong.
Maybe I should look into doing a Chaos League LP, since the SA one seems to have died?
I converted an awesome orc team by placing miniature american football helmets on warhammer orcs, giving them two shoulder pads and iron gobz.
The more heavily armored, the slower.
So no shoulders, no helmet = Thrower
Shoulders, no helmet = Linemen
Normal shoulders and helmet = Blitzer
Spiky shoulders and helmet, extra bitz = Black Orc
Having opened a new studio in Montreal earlier this year and released the Diablo-clone Loki, French developer Cyanide has what we call 'a lot of irons in the fire.' The studio also announced today that it has waded waist-deep into the murky waters of middleware development, creating its own "dynamic 3D animation engine," which Cyanide interestingly describes as a tool that "integrates physical and biomechanical laws under the control of a powerful artificial intelligence system." Skynet, can you hear us?
While the company hopes to license the engine to other "small and medium sized" game developers, Cyanide is not above eating its own dog food, and will utilize the technology in its own projects, the first of which will be a title based on Games Workshop's fantasy tabletop game Blood Bowl. First announced briefly last year, the real news here is that the game, which is an unofficial follow up to the unlicensed PC title Chaos League, has been confirmed as in development for the Xbox 360, PSP, and Nintendo DS, as well as the PC.

Looks like Games Workshop is pretty damn proud of themselves. Lets see, a 40k MMO by THQ, Mythic is almost done with WAR, Dawn of War still is a must have RTS, and then we have that Handheld 40k game coming out, and now this.
Not to mention their miniatures are still selling pretty well.

Chaos League was god damn awful. Absolutely god damned awful. Well, I thought it was anyway.
As far as fumbbl goes, fuck yes. I was trying to get Trevor to play a fumbbl match with me a few days ago, but noo. He was busy with Halo 3. :<
Personally, I love to see Mythic add BloodBowl into their Warhammer 40k MMOG. How sweet would that be?
I guess it would be alright.
If I had a bloodbowl set, I would paint it.
At the very least it's fummbl, but a real game instead of crappy java client.
I could revive my ODAM thread I guess but the OP's probably way out-dated.
Say, would the FUMBBL client work on OSX?
Im thinking yes because its Java.

So cheap to throw together and so fun to paint.
Wait, someone was working on Talisman, I thought... hmm. Must check Wiki.
Oh snap.

Golded for the absolute fucking truth.
well, i'm pretty sure i made the last G&T fumbbl thread and it sucked..so not it
edit: and yeah sceptre, it works fine in OS X
Oh, the joy. It is too much.
SO SO AWESOME
If only it had halflings too.
Yesss!
I still want a release date though!

Seems like Warhammer is beating out D&D.
But yes, awesome.
Also, MMO squad-command Necromunda would certainly be rad too.
