Is religion bad for society?

This is an examination of the viewpoint (most fervently endorsed by marxism) that religion is bad for society. Does it really drain logical thought in an otherwise inteligent society? Or are the benefits of hope an inner peace outweigh its otherwise illogical theories.

    Long answer, yes, because it divides people who are pretty much the same, and false dichotomies are bad for society.
