Making a gif

So, I've got two images, and I want to make a gif out of them. Preferably with the first fading into the second. Is there a way to easily do this with Creative Suite 3, or is there another program I should use?

Update: So I discovered how to make a .gif animation, which was actually rather easy. Now I'm just wondering if there's anyway I can create the fade-in for the second image.

im not sure that you can put transitions into a Gif file, but you could have a lot of frames and decrease / increase the transparency?

You can use many programs included in cs3:

    After effects
    Premier
    Flash

All of these have transition effects you can apply and have an "export as GIF" option. But like afty said, gifs by themselves have no "transitions" built in.

If you let me know which program you're using, I can explain in more detail how to make a transition
