The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The first episode was nifty. I listened to a podcast by Kevin Smith, and supposedly they were gonna hire Kyle Gass to be a demon, and KS was all "This is an amazing idea, he comes with his own audience, he nailed the audition, etc." Everyone thought it was awesome. Then the network execs just vetoed him. So that's sad.
Nifty show though. Not sure how much staying power it could have.
And I'm somewhat annoyed that his parents sold his soul. That seems unfair. His best friend is totally the American version of Shaun's friend in Shaun of the Dead.
And I'm somewhat annoyed that his parents sold his soul. That seems unfair.
I'm sure that will come up again down the line. Remember what they said in the first episode, about it not being their soul to sell. I highly doubt that was a throw-away line.

See, no. No. No. No.
This guy is annoying as hell, whereas Nick Frost is hilarious.

I'm sorry, the correct answer was the "Canadian version" :P
In regards to the whole parents selling their childs soul, it seems to me he caught on and brought that up with the devil to try to get out of doing the bounty hunting, and the devil pretty much said he would take his mom or dad to hell then.
Just finished watching though the currently aired episodes and I definitely like this show.
Ray Wise is so great that it becomes a treat everytime he appears to guide/torment Sam. Only problem I can see is that the show is pretty formulaic, and I don't know how long they can milk the "This time he fights a soul that has <insert whatever> powers!" thing.
Also I like the fat sidekick
edit: I knew I recognized Sam from somewhere, he was the main character in The Loop, another HI-larious show cancelled before people had a chance to watch it (and according to Brett Harrison's wiki he has only played characters named sam for the last couple years. Interesting... except not really)

Yea, I agree about the show being formulaic. I'm okay with it for now though because I still find it entertaining. I mean, comon! Paint mixer rodeo? That's brilliant.

God I miss The Loop. It was the best show on Fox, and it got canned before it even had a chance. Fuck you Fox for killing shows that take longer than one season to grow a fanbase.
The last one was good.. the one before that was annoying. The fact that Sam has not known Andi biblically on the plant counter at this point is absurd.
He should also know her in the greek way as well.
The further a character does things on TV diverging from what I first think of in a situation, or even the common sense path... the less i start to like it. Sam not getting the contract post haste, getting more details from the devil, the guy from journeyman not grilling his old GF about time travel , etc
I'm incredibly relieved the Devil threatened Sam not to bring Andi into the loop. I have a very low tolerance for "I'm not going to tell this person something for fear of driving them away, even though the secrecy is driving them away!" plotlines. The Devil at least put a new spin on it.
But yeah. Way too formulaic. If it doesn't mix things up fast, I'm thinking I'll be bored with it by the second season.
Yeah I've been liking this show despite its formulaic nature. The characters are all great maybe with the exception of Andi who's just sort of there.
I also liked the Devil's statement in the last one that just being involved in the situation is bad news for his friends. Clearly they're setting up Andi's parents to be involved in the Devil shenanigans as well.
So if you've missed the last few episodes (Leon last week and this weeks Ep.) the series has really gotten much better. I liked the whole Devil shows up, gives Sam a vessel Hilirity ensues formula but there mixing it up a bit with Sam getting in the Devils shit. Also the side characters are getting more developed.
It seems to my that they're putting the formulaic Vessel > Silliness > Soul Suck in the background, Both Leon and last nights ep had the formula there, but it was more of a side story while other antics like Leon or the stuff with gladys and sock makes up the majority of the episode.
Yeah I'm glad this show has been keeping the quality up. I think the only thing I havent liked much is the actress for Andi always seems kind of out of sync with the rest of the cast. She doesnt feel like she fits in to me.
My wife and I thought maybe they were going to keep the cop character around as a source of support or info once he found out about all of the demon stuff. But couple minutes later...never mind.

I was totally confused for a few mins on why this cop was listening to Sam when he was "clearly" crazy to a normal human. Then I said to my brother, "He soooo sold his soul."
I've been reading around, and people are assuming that the death power is Bealzebabe's... but I don't think Sam had an obvious power of the week this week, so there's every chance that it could have been Sam that was killing things, not Bealzebabe.

maybe that could have saved veronica mars.

Overall, will watch episode 2.

It was ok, not as good as the first one though. The thing with the mom is weak.
Yeah, losing Kevin Smith definately hurt, but that much should have been obvious. 'course, it was still good. Second ep of Chuck sucked a lot worse.
Nifty show though. Not sure how much staying power it could have.

I don't care how much it is or isn't like Dead Like Me, I want cameos.
I want to name my first son Mason because of that show*.
*Well, actually I want to name my first son Mason because of the Free Masons, but Dead Like Me sealed it for me.

Librarians harbor a terrible secret. Find it.
".... AND, all of the preceding is moot unless the soul has signed himself."
Bam, season finale.

I think Andi is the devil's daughter.
He should also know her in the greek way as well.

It vexes me. I'm terribly vexed.

maybe the relationship w/ andi is the key...

Really good episode. Gladys: :^:
Ray Wise as the devil is seriously the greatest thing.
