Sebaceous Cysts *nsf stomachs*

OK, so this sucks. I have Sebaceous Cysts on my scrotum. Basically I have a hundred or so very tiny (pin tip sized) cysts that cover my scrotum, and about ten or so that have become large and unsightly. From what I understand, this shit never goes away, but it takes a LONG time for these to grow large so I figure getting rid of them is worth it if not to provide temporary relief from people thinking I have genital warts or something.

Two things.

A.) Is there a way to prevent or slow the ocurrance of the larger cysts? I don't mind the small ones but the large ones are disgusting. I heard they are made up of keratin. Is my body producing too much? Is there a diet or supplement that can balance that?

B.) It doesn't seem like a smart idea to remove the problem cysts myself, so it looks like professional removal is required. I do not have medical insurance of any kind and probably wont until next year at the earliest. What options do I have to get these things removed by a trustworthy dermatologist whose office isn't run out of a trailer on the side of the road?

I am starting to get small ones just above my cheeks and I want this shit gone. I don't mind a little extra skin care management.

Personal experiences are also helpful. Thanks guys.

My only experience: I had a horribly, horribly painful one at the top of my pelvis just above the shaft of my penis. I was planning on going in for a consultation on a Monday and on a Sunday it was busted by a really ridiculous physical accident. I took antibiotics and was fine.

Many... and on a sensitive spot... wow.

I think if you want ease of mind immediately you should see a GP (general checkup shouldn't cost too much, even without health insurance) and ask him some general questions about slowing remedies and his favored dermatologist to refer.

I don't have a ton of small ones, but I've got a few large ones.

From what I've read, its a fairly simple procedure for a doctor to cut them out. I'm not sure medical insurance would even cover it, as its probably an elective surgery, unless they are infected.

If I wasn't in a relationship I would definitely have mine removed. I'm sure they would be a cause for concern to a person who didn't know they were there and what they were.

    You don't always need surgery:

What the... I have one on my back. And that's bad enough for me. You have my condolences.

When I went to a dermatologist, he basically numbed the area, sliced it open, and squeezed really hard. You just have to make sure everything is very clean when you do it and you... bandage... afterwards, but you can drain them yourself.

Question, though. Are you sure they're this variety of cyst? Do they smell bad when they open?

It isn't a pleasant smell but it doesn't smell like a dog turd or anything. These things don't open a whole lot. If they are any bigger than usual "popping" them isn't really an option, but like I said, I've only had 10 my entire life. The smaller ones can be squeezed like zits, most of the time. These are pretty painless unless I've tried to pop them, so it isn't a huge problem, but I don't like them and I want the big ones to go away. The smaller ones aren't what you would picture them to be; they are very faint and appear to "make up" the skin down there. They kind of suck but I don't think women mind the ones that don't look like an alien is going to pop out.

I have one that is about twice as big as the others, about half the size of a marble. It is the nastiest one and I would like to get rid of it myself, but it appears to have a very thick layer of skin covering it, and must have a lot of nerve endings or something, because it is as sensitive as any other part of my body.
