Dinging 70, evidently, is like jumping into a giant cesspool. There's reputedly a nugget of gold somewhere in there, but it's at the bottom of a sea of shit.

It is if you squint your eyes to make it look like one.
I should probably dump the $25 and go to Dark Iron but I still have a sour taste in my mouth from my reception there last time.
//has a great time with guildmate from PAA, chattin' up a storm et al//
"Hey, you're pretty cool, who's your main? Oh, you're new."
//is never able to strike up a conversation with this person again//

I would recommend the Beasts' over the PAA any day.
Whatever happened to your Rogue that was on Ravenholdt anyway Oboro?
I had to delete her to appease the Cycle of Affairs.
1) Oboro-- an untreated, feverishly alone and impoverished schizophrenic transsexual-- does something stupid, sending her life spiraling downwards and out of control.
2) Oboro is homeless or near-homeless for several months.
3) Oboro crash lands somewhere with a modicum of security, and shuts the outside world out playing MMOs in tandem for 16+ hours a day.
4) Something bad happens in-game-- servers are down for too long, etc.-- and Oboro's recklessness takes ahold of her, plunging her into adventure again. e.g., Oboro with no World of Warcraft to play buys a plane ticket to Connecticut.
5) In order to facilitate following through with her psychotic plans, Oboro deletes all of her World of Warcraft characters.
6) Oboro lives fruitfully for some amount of time-- wait a few weeks, then go back to 1.
I tried doing the PA guild thing, twice. I grew bored of the Horde/PvP server BS pretty quickly and went back to focusing on my PvE server characters. Not getting ganked 3 or 4 an hour while questing is kind of nice.

Meh. Icecrown is where it's at. Why, you ask? Well, because I'm there.
Sigh, I wish I could do Kara more. Not just because it's still fun (I imagine it'll wane, but I still love doing Curator, Aran and Netherspite--Prince can go fuck a beagle though), but because I love shooting the shit with my guildies over vent and playing prankeapples such as this one.
Before Moroes our warlock (and the raid lead) hearthed out to go respec; five minutes later we hear him say "oh my god did I seriously just click Conflagarate." (or something, I know little about the modern warlock and don't recall anyway). As is our way we mocked him; instead of respeccing he came back and did the fight--and continued fighting all the way up to Aran--with the wrong spec. Died a lot the whole way too, he was so depressed-sounding, it was hilarious. He's actually a good player and a great guy, mind--just being raid lead made him an easy target and we wanted some entertainment.
The highlight was just before Aran--he realized he had a couple pieces of broken gear so he decided to off himself, ghost to the front, repair, then go back through the rear to rejoin the raid. Naturally Warlocks off themselves by Hellfiring, to avoid durability loss; instead our trees lifebloomed him while the Hunter ran ahead to find something to misdirect. A comical combination of an incoming misdirected mob, and him realizing what was going on and jumping a ledge instead, resulted in five deaths. Been a long time since I've laughed so hard.
Later I accidentally pulled something, and the next pull was misdirected onto me. Oh how the tables have turned. Still funny though, and anyway now I know that MD can be right-clicked off.

Oh man, so I log back on after a disastrous two-hour BM run that never finished, and join a Sethekk Halls group. I get a /tell from a friend asking me if I want to run Black Morass instead, so I help the SH group down a Fel Reaver, find a replacement in /LFG, and then switch over to the BM party.
My friend, party leader, has to go AFK so he hands party leader over to a random guy. Random guy boots me, replaces me with his guildmate. I /ask what's up, and he just /replies everything I say spelled backwards for a while, and then stops responding altogether.
My friend comes back from AFK, and confusedly /tells me that the random guy won't give up leader and isn't saying or doing anything anymore.

Either you're not telling us the good things that happen in your WoW experience, or there ARE no good things.
Also, Leggings of Assassination dropped on my first SL clear-- granted, it was a five-hour clear with three replacements and one wave of repops, so when I logged off at 5AM I was too fazed to post about it.

Oh just to Wavechaser, I've done three BM runs and the Hourglass trinket has dropped on all three

on all three runs, the other four people either didn't want it or already had it, so we all rolled greed for it, and I won all three times.
I was thinking of you Wavechaser, as I sharded them all one by one.
Meh. Icecrown is where it's at. Why, you ask? Well, because I'm there.
I used to play on Icecrown then I made the mistake of going to Windrunner because it was either that or Perenolde where I knew of people in real life played.
I before my recent hiatus from the game I went every week from March until the mid. August for the Emerald Ripper; it never dropped.

So I started from the north end of the Eastern Kingdoms in the test realm tonight and planned on seeing which mobs are still elite and which ones are not. Here's the list I made so far:
Still Elite:
Pyrewood Villagers
Sons of Arugal
Flesh Golems in Andorhal
Chok'Sul in Loch Modan
Mor'ladim in Duskwood
Morbent Fel in Duskwood
Hogger
Scorched Guardians in the Badlands
Scarlet mobs in Tyr's Hand
Tharil'zun, Gath'llzog and Singe in Redridge
No Longer Elite:
Most of the mobs in Hearthglen
Dark Iron Dwarves in Dun Modr
Balgaras the Foul in the Wetlands
Mobs in non-instance part of the Deadmines
Stromgarde Keep mobs, including the 3 mounted alliance guys
Loch Modan Ogres, except Chok'Sul
Mobs outside the Uldaman instance
Margol the Rager in Searing Gorge
Dark Iron Lookouts in Searing Gorge (well, the guys who were on the towers, anyway)
Twilight mobs in northwest Searing Gorge
Obsidion might be non-elite now (Searing Gorge)
Overseer Maltorius in Searing Gorge
The Orcs guarding the entrance to BRS
Burning Steppes Dragonkin
Jintha'Alor trolls
So does this mean all the people with the poor choice of Legolas or whatever they added to it will wait in vain hope for a chance at getting the prize itself?
I really don't understand how you convince people to pay for a name change they made the choice for good or bad for the name
$10 seems cheap to me. They don't want people changing their name three times a day. It's not a "this automated service has an actual value of $10" thing, it's trying to make it costly enough to deter people from using it too much...
And man we have TONS of people who will take advantage of this. People in the guild who named an alt something stupid and then ended up leveling it higher, people with non-RP names who want better ones for their own reasons or because we won't let them in the guild with a stupid name and the GMs wouldn't change it when they reported it, etc. I might change my hunter's name (Merika) because I'm tired of everyone making comments about it sounding like "America" whenever I log in....

Blizzard's 4-category server division strikes again! Death to the 4-category system!

I hope no one here's a heroin addict, because I was a WoW addict.
I'd be fine with this if PA dudes in their guilds weren't PvP homps.

Wait, you deleted again?
my Horde Warrior got deleted
otherwise no, this is the only character I've been able to play since the last deletion and she just hit 70 and she is good to go for now
but I just cleared my debts and have $4,000 in traveler's cheques
so who's saying how long this WoW-playing period will last

Where did you get that idea? O_o
I just have a lot of options open right now and I'm considering my next move before committing to paying money to transfer to another server :P

We can change our name for $10 now because Blizzard is SOOOOOOOOOOO generous!
No really, can they scream "Shit! We're bleeding revenue!" more obviously?

That was kind of tiring.
Any idea if the 'still elite' list is more solo-able than before? I've heard they all took pretty substantial level hits.
So does this mean all the people with the poor choice of Legolas or whatever they added to it will wait in vain hope for a chance at getting the prize itself?
