Computer Beeping

Guys, my computer has recently started to make a single beeping sound every now and then.

I am sure it is coming from the box. The hardware is about 6 months old.

What is going on?

It could be overheating. Most newer computers will constantly monitor the temperature and emit warning beeps when it gets too hot.

Even when it's been turned off for an hour? The box feels rather cool, anyway.

Are you saying it still beeps when the machine is off?

Is it more like a shrill squeaking sound? If so, some Dell laptops and the Macbooks have that problem, some circuitry issue

Apparently floating it works(getting one of those things that doesn't let the ground prong plug into the outlet)to fix it, but you probably wouldn't want to do that

Yes, throughout the night, it periodically let off a beep.

Guys, if my hardware is in trouble, I'm worried.

Uh, it's off, and it's beeping? Could we get some specs, or something? It's kinda not enough just to know its a computer.

You're sure it's not the battery backup?

Battery backup? Is there some battery in my computer? Would explain how my computer stays in sync.

    -Windows XP HE SP2
    -AMD Athlon(tm) X2 Dual
    -Core Processor 4200+
    -Not a laptop.

Again, hardware is about 6 months old. The beeping hasn't continued today for some reason, I took my mobile off my computer box, but I doubt that was what was making the noise. I've heard computers beep before, I'm positive it's from the box.

I also took some books off the box.

Put your mobile back where it was, and call or text it. If the computer starts bleeping just before the call/text arrives, then its interference from the mobile affecting the internal speaker (and it probably is).

That very well could be it, I had a set of speakers that would make all sorts of noises if a cell phone went off anywhere near them. Like it could be in my pocket as I'm sitting at the desk and they'd still pick up the interference. So of course I'd know moments before my phone actually rang. But anyway, it is very possible it could of just been your phone.
