Man, beating The Covenant on Legendary by myself felt really awesome. I think I'm gonna stick to co-op for the last two stages, though...
Unless you use a significant amount of skulls I did not find that last level that much more difficult on legendary
besides level 8 the flood levels are usually the same difficulty overall with maybe a few more cheap shots here and there
I'd like to pop in to note that Halo 3's campaign is roughly a hojillion times better than both 1 and 2's
I don't think there's a single level I dislike outside of "Crow's Nest."
aw!...not diggin the "where should I tell them to go?" *k-chack* " To war!"
*stand around* "hey, chief you going to go kill them or what?"
More like "outside of Cortana" mi rite

I actually like Crow's nest (besides the rally point issue) the back tracking really is very short and there are different battles going on which evens out the back tracking.
Yeah, the turret Flood are a bitch. With three players on Legendary, we finally just started leaving one guy outside the room while my friend and I charged into areas.
All the hate for Cortana and Crow's Nest: how about jackal snipers on Sierra 117. They're all spec-ops, "up there, past the trees" and crap. You might as well be fighting cloaked predators with railguns half the time. It works like:
Go around the corner.
Pssssew.
Respawn.
That is high quality action right there; sure it's not as bad as Halo 2, but play through that jungle with an SD TV (...especially split screen), and then see which one is worst. On Heroic a vast majority of them only have carbines instead...and their aim sucks.
(To be honest, the part in Crow's Nest where you come back to the 'motor pool' and there are 2+ jackal snipers is just as annoying)
Also, needler > retarded wall turret, invinci-flood.
Or rockets, those work too.
[edit]Complaining about the the level design again (damn Jackals on Tsavo Highway), what's up with the debris on Tsavo Highway? I'm sure I heard one of the marines or someone say something like "that's from the space elevator, when Mombasa blew" or something, but that can't be right, that defies the physics of a working elevator (in that the counter weight would carry it out of Earth's atmosphere (since the base of the elevator was destroyed when Truth left), and that any debris would likely burn up in the atmosphere, and - based on tensile strength and weight requirements - the elevator's materials would likely have a very high air flow resistance).

So I recently played a little of the Halo CE campaign again. I must say it's fun but Halo beats it in every possible way. Although I will say this: Halo CE did a better job of making you feel like a beleaguered, weary soldier in my opinion. The feeling was still there in H2, though not as much, but in Halo 3 the Chief just seemed like too much of some type of super hero to me.
So i swapped out a router yesterday for a better one. And amazingly enough, i seem to be winning the beatdown game far more often than I was before. I feel really confident with the game to begin with, but I'm kinda surprised how much of a difference this is making.
So some people don't like Crow's Nest? Isn't that the Flood level in the city environment? I loved that level.
Not so much with Cortana. Way too many Needle-shooting-Flood and levels that were incredibly hard to navigate, so much so that the game gave you a nav-point to go to after spending too long in a particular area

It's thought to be possible to construct a space elevator without a tether/counterweight. It could be a different design.
It's still fucking awesome ("Who is crazy enough to come in here?" - Knew who it was right away!)
Just coming off the back of The Ark and The Covenant, arguably the best 2 levels in all 3 halo games, it was kinda a step down.
God yes, I can play those level over and over and over
I also love Floodgate, it's like The Library or Cortana but with more interesting level design

The only bit I really find frustrating in Halo 3 is Cortana and the two Scarabs bit. Purely because half the time it's luck if you defeat them. The first one is always easy, the problem is being able to get back to your equipment. Half the time I'll return to my Hornet which I've left on the scarab it wont flip properly so I board it, or if I leave it on the ground it'll be destroyed by the other scarab, if I take the tank when I leave it on the ground I find that when I return to it some twit has jumped into the drivers seat and has driven it directly under the scarab and got it stuck there so again I'm without euipment.
I wish there was a way to radio the hornets (or any vehicle) to come over to you and give you a lift.

I always sacrifice the hornet to board the first scarab, blow it up, jump to the ground and pray for a marine driving a mongoose/warthog to still be alive and come pick me up.
Other than that, you can try to run run run back to the hills and hope the ghosts/prowlers don't get you.

It wasn't that bad, just a bit repetitive for a while. I liked the inside-hallway fights with all the Brutes.
My Legendary + 11 Skulls (no Iron, Blind) run of Crow's Nest was a 3 hour, 213 death experience of brutal rape. Pun intended.
For reference, I have traversed the entirety of Halo 2 on Legendary solo. Hiding and waiting for shield recharge is a happy dream from the past what with Black Eye and Catch turned on.
the good thing about Catch though, you got plenty of Spike Nades to strip the Brutses with.

There's a little bit of finesse required, but you can just shoot hornet missiles into the power grid on the scarabs. I never leave the hornet on that fight.

Or land the Hornet right on the top deck of the Scarab and escape in the last second...
I've got more from other escapades, but my connection seems to suck and doesn't want to upload things.

I didn't realize that some peope do leave the hornet in that fight. You can blow away the metal cover on the back with missiles, exposing the spongy power grid. It's easier after taking out the legs, of course.

This is true.
But it's just so manly to jump off the hornet land rip out a plasma turret mow everyone down crack the core open throw the turret away and run back to your hornet before it explodes.
I liked the Sierra117 jackal snipers. They were a great change of pace, making you look/think before going out into the open, and weren't overly godlike like the ones from Halo 2. It's your own fault if you get killed by them.
I made it through the entire level only getting killed a couple times by them, on my first try.

I usually bombard the scarabs with the Tank from the ledge until the big gun on the back is dead and one of each's legs are down. Then I fly the Hornet over and destroy the back cover and end it.

On the two scarab fight on legendary, I left the tank to ride on the hornet's wing, got off on a scarab, jumped off after killing it, took a guy's mongoose, drove back to the tank, long range tank'd the remaining ones leg, then drove in the mongoose to blow it up. It felt pretty great.

that reminds me, the big gun on its back... i've pounded that thing with the scorpion and it doesn't seem to ever be 'destroyed' does it only stop working for a short period(like shooting out the legs only keeps it down for a certain amount of time) or am i not hitting it enough?

It gets repaired quickly. The legs also get repaired, but not as quick. As long as you damage it enough to 'break' it once, it'll only take a few shots to stop it from firing once you get up close.

Yes
Cortana I dread playing and Crow's Nest is just alright.
The rest of the levels though are as good or better than the very best from the first two games though. Which is saying a lot.
