Jesus, what the hell did they do to the GBA version of DKC3? Was that a project for some interns or something? They really fucked it completely.

Well the levels weren't too bad and Kiddy didn't feel as sluggish to me, but they gave everything this nice coating of ugly so that you don't really want to play it. The world map makes me eyes bleed from the colors they used.

    Wow Pacifica was . . .

    wow.

I think at this point Rare was with MS so the competent use of established gameplay mechanics seen in Pacifica was surely the work of Nintendo.

Someone insane, because that game is absurdly long from what I remember. There's so many things to collect. I could probably finish 10 games in the time it would take to finish DK64.

I played DK64 for over 80 hours, and didn't get everything. I got close, and that's with no walkthroughs, but goddam that game had too much shit. Five characters, 100 bananas per character per level, 5 Golden bananas per character per level, laser beam plans, money, faeries and hidden Nintendo and Rareware coins.

That and the levels were huge.

I mean, what the fuck, 500 bananas a level? get the fuck out of here Rare.

True, but that's only if you're doing a 100% run. An LP of just beating the game probably wouldn't be that long.

It's long and tedious to complete, but the game itself isn't hard. You can save anytime and you even have infinite lives in it. If you know where is everything, you can problably finish everything under 24 hours. Of course, for first-time players, it would problably take around 72+ hours to find everything.

I completed DK64 more than 10 times getting 101% each time and collecting all 3500 colored bananas, 201 golden bananas, banana fairies, all upgrades and every banana coin(everything without walkthrough too) and it's so sastifying. Me loves DK64 and collect-a-thon games. <3 So sad I don't remember where my N64 and games are anymore.

Wait, so is that game good? I fired it up once, sat through the intro, said "Wow, that was fucking terrible", couldn't immediately find the gameplay, and gave up.

As a 3d platformer, it was terrible. It isn't very fast-paced and doesn't take too much effort to get everywhere. As a game, it isn't as bad as people makes it. You can pretty much roam around every level and get enough golden bananas to continue by using every kong at least twice in a world. Each world felt big and gave you a great deal of freedom. As DK game, it was a bit lacking because of few references to the past games, but I didn't mind having to learn 3 new main characters. I loved the game because I enjoy searching for hidden stuff, because I am pretty patient, because I love having a 100+% next to my saves and because that I couldn't care less about the story of games. Oh, and because I love the DK rap, but that's for another SSBB topic.

Even if I had found it, I have no experience in recording and doesn't have any material to do it anyway.

Also, Tiny going "Wheeeeeeeeeee" when spinning is one of the cutest things ever so that helped the game out.

Personally, I'm kind of the same. I just love collecting tons of stuff and seeing a completed number next to my file.

Oh god, haha, I actually played DK64 for longer than five minutes. The only thing I can equate it to is purgatory. Everything seems tailor-made to annoy, and badly-designed at that. Why do the text boxes float around as if they weren't hard enough to read? Why does the game constantly interrupt my playing to shove more shit to memorize down my throat? Where is the "game" in fact? All I've been doing so far is watch DK swim and walk around and get accosted by annoying characters. The only thing I can equate it to is wading through text in Fire Emblem: PoR, only with the most irritating sound design of all time.

Okay I made an intermission video and it's uploading now. It went very well until the last minute, when my foot decided to go into horrible falling asleep pain. It was where I was going to end the video anyway but most of the last minute is just me going OWOWOWOWOW a lot.

Anyway, I don't want to de-rail my own thread so I may only do one more intermission video after this, but I would do it wednesday. Preferably, I'd like if Pastorius got his final video up or Ohtsam got a section of his item videos up because I want to keep this thread going on actual related content.

Yeah, I meant the item collection one. Just final in terms of completing your section of videos because you said you were going to get 101%.

Also, no intermission video today. Google is acting up again. Maybe tomorrow.

I used to always think they were coconuts as well. But nope, instead, Squawks is using countless unborn babies to kill giant bees. Plus, coconuts just seem like they would be better projectile weapons, because they're harder. Good for shooting up bees' arses (if they even have them!)
