So I want to create a password-protected website. More specifically, the content I want protected are images. They are screenshots from an answer manual for problems I want my students to have the answer for, but I don't want students elsewhere to have access to.
I'd like to simply put the images in a subfolder of my website, and password-protect that entire folder, so that no one could download or view the files without inputing the password. Is that possible? How?
Please keep in mind that I have no special access to the website server, aside from uploading files in my personal web space.

I think that's going to be your biggest stumbling block, to be honest. Is there anyone who has access to the server that would be willing to help?
Failing that, maybe use some kind of encrypted file? Incidentally, password protecting .zip files is trivially defeated, so you may need something stronger.

Could you just email the images to your students?
