I also love it when enemy medics ubercharge you when you are a spy so you can just go to town with your shiv. You can just hear them cursing on the other side of the internet when they realize it
Are you playing against legally retarded people? I mean I don't see how this is possible at all. I can see a medic accidentally healing a spy. That makes sense. I fail to see how the medic sees the guy he is healing poof out of a disguise, spy starts stabbing teammates, and he continues to heal/ubercharge the person.
If I read that wrong and you are saying you killed the medic that ubercharged you... how is that possible if he is ubercharged?
You're a Spy. You're disguised as the other team. The other team's medic Uburcharges you. You run into a room and slaughter his teammates, immune from their gunfire until the Medic realizes how he has assisted the other team.
I'd probably drop myself from the server for a week if I ever did that.
It's pretty cool how brilliant the medic is in this game. I hardly play medic, but damn does he ever really let me down. I mean, the best thing for a HW is a medic, and the best thing for a medic is a HW...it's such a reciprocal relationship, one I haven't seen work as well in any other game in recent memory.
Personally, I play as soldier or engineer, just like I did for TFC, haha.
Pyro - As long as you're not point blank with the enemy team, they won't expect you to shoot anything.
Demoman - Their guns aren't suited for spychecks, and if the enemy is attacking then they aren't expected to toss stickies. You take a speed penalty, but a lot of people ignore the demoman as opposed to the engineer disguise.
Sniper - Take some damage voluntarily, then disguise as sniper and pretend to be limping back behind friendly lines. Then take out THEIR snipers with a friendly shanking. No one expects you to be in close combat, so you can just hang back.
Soldier - Sneak away from the main mass of attackers and pretend to be a soldier running back to the front or screaming for a medic.
On the other hand, never be any of these:
Scout - You don't move nearly fast enough and you lack the doublejump that everyone expects out of Scouts.
Engineer - Other engineers will blast you in the face repeatedly.
Spy - You can't pretend to be a doubleagent, so that's a big tipoff for the enemy.
Medic - No Medigun? No real medic.
Heavy - This could work until you get near the front lines, where you're expected to start spinning the gun. If they've got a careless medic charging you up, though, go for it. If they're anywhere near paranoid, don't bother.
I was on a pub earlier today (bad idea, I know). We were defending on dustbowl, and this medic ubers a sniper, and, over voicechat, goes "You're red! Get in THERE!" So the sniper of course unloads his clip in his secondary in about a half second and then switches to his machete. Didn't kill a soul. The medic then bitched for 5 minutes about how people are supposed to unload when they're ubered...

I notice medics give uber far too soon quite often. Like on the first attack round on dustbowl, the medic might uber a HW when he's 50 yards away from the shack, leading him to get slaughtered just about the time he finally makes it to that first CP.
I guess you could argue that it's risky to hold an Uber, but they aren't hard to get, and a medic/HW combo is hard to kill in the first place, even when not ubered. You might as well storm up a ways so the uber isn't wasted in transit like the majority I see. Just an observation.
Wow, playing as a Spy or an Engineer is sooo much more rewarding now, I remember back when you had to keep spamming through levels of menus to get anything done...ended up binding a hell lot of keys. Now everything is so much easier. Except that I still haven't figured out how to detonate shit when I'm an Engineer - I can't see any option for it in the context menu.
Problem is I keep pressing 1 when I want to bring out my melee weapon, though I never did have this problem when playing CS...must be too used to control schemes. -_-"
I had a medic a bit back who wouldn't actually heal people on the front lines; he'd hang back and only charge his uber. Frustrating, because a) it charges so slow if you're healing the engy one point back and b) that healing helps more than a random uber every 5 minutes.

The last weapon on your list, #5, is the Destructotron. Works the same way as the Buildotron, but it blows up things you've put down already. Then you can harvest their metal.
I've been having a real blast with medic, though I get the sneaking suspicion that its the easiest type to play (esp. due to the 360 autolock of the medigun). Though it can be quite a rewarding challenge if a lot of people are coming under incoming damage rather than just a heavy.
I've also really enjoyed demo and engineer, but haven't been nearly as successful. Getting to know the maps will probably let me set ambushes better with each class, but how are offensive engineers finding time to set anything up? Most (pug) games I play as an engi I spend half the time trying to setup and maintain a forward teleport and dispenser, but by the time I get them up and get metal for a sentry gun, my machines or I come under attack and die. I can see how much the teleport helps the team when its up, but its so boring to just keep having to find an "out of the way but close to the action" slot to drop it and never really get to set up a decent gun.

This is just map knowledge, like you said. Learning easily overlooked places will help out immensely. As to the sentry thing, well, I set my guns up sometimes knowing they'll get smacked down, but I can usually squeeze in 3-4 kills before they hit them. And forward dispensers can be invaluable; I've had 6 people swarming a dispenser of mine attacking the last point on Gravelpit 2 (i think) and I feel that was helpful to everyone offensive engineer is my favorite thing to do with that class. Take risks, get swatted down often, but when you do get it right, it feels good.

i often have to chose the lesser of two evils. do i use the uber when i know i can even if it means we fizzle out right when things get hot, or do i go for it, and potentially lose it, and by extension lose the heavy?
more often than not, i find the uber charge meter is actually a "time you have left to live" meter

This reminds me, I just want to thank whichever medic was healing me as a sniper on Well last night. There was a pretty good barrage of minigun and shotgun fire keeping me in cover until that happened. The healing kept me healthy while I got a good bead on the bastards.

I was on some random pub this morning and saw some of the worst spies I've ever seen in the game. Like a soldier that would decloak right in front of you, or a "friendly" engineer who would run right up to me and start rubbing up on me and trying to get behind me. I think I got nearly a dozen bonesaw kills in one round.

I think I would uninstall TF2. :x
I wonder if anyone has done this as a sort of griefing... you have a friend on vent on the other team. you arrange for him to be a spy and you're a medic. you tell him when you're charged and meet up. then you team up to slaughter your own team with impunity...
On 2fort i was leaving the spawn CLOAKED and walked infront of a team mate and by some freak flash of bad luck took the headshot that was heading into my team mate behind me.
Edit: i swear i put this reply up before seeing the above post. And to the person above me, fuck you it was probably me.
Nope, probably me.
Was aiming for a Demoman jumping off the enemy battlements, took aim, fired...

Yeah, most of the time, I get an uber ready and die immediately before I want to use it.
The best spy kill I think I've ever gotten was as a heavy. I got ubered just as I ran out of ammo, so I'm like, "Fuck this shit!" Whip out my fists, and go to town on the first person I see: another heavy who's sitting there spinning his gun. He goes does in a flurry of knockout punches, and I pick up his gun, ready to start laying waste to the rest of his team again (especially since he was sitting in that area behind that building near the first cap point in Dustbowl, which the enemy had already gotten, so I was going to pop up right behind them all).
After all this, I check my kill list. Two fist kills?
Pyro - As long as you're not point blank with the enemy team, they won't expect you to shoot anything.
I expect pyros to do a quick puff with the flamethrower to prove they're not spies. Otherwise they get a melee weapon to the forehead.
