Personally I'm rooting for Atlanta, but they had a terrible playoff performance last season and haven't got off to a good start so far this season. Hoping they can get some chemistry going and stop giving up the puck on stupid plays.

Sabers. *sigh* Again. And I'm decidedly less excited about it than I was last year. Goddamnit.

How can you not be. Losing both captains was an unexpected blow, and shows on the ice. Nobody was picked up in the offseason to offset the loss, either. I'm hoping they hit their stride soon, but so far it looks to be a long season.

    Toronto, unfortunately.

Frankly, I'll be happy if they win a cup within my lifetime.

I'm a Devils fan and have been since the late 80s. Scott Gomez committed the ultimate sin and left for the Rangers. I can't wait to see what gets thrown at him when he shows up in Jersey.

Other than that. It's time the Devils give the backup goalie some more time (It's bad, I can't remember his name at the moment). They need to have Brodeur start to mentor and train the new guy, and actually give him some meaningful ice time. Martin is going to have to retire soon, even though he's still amazing. It's kind of like Brett Farve, yeah he can still throw, but he doesn't many more years left in him.

In the west, rooting for the Canucks, and in the east the Senators.

The Senators are doing great, and we'll see if the Canucks can have a better first-half of the season than they did last year.

I'm rooting, as I have for the last 17 years I've been following hockey, the Canucks.

Of course, if they cross check opposing players onto Luongo's knee again, I may start regretting it. Dude has an uncanny capacity for having potenially horrifying injuries amount to nothing, like the puck in the throat he took in pre-season practice. Also, hoping against all logic for a small revival of Naslund and Morrison's point production.

Oh, and Buffalo, I think you guys will still be pretty good. Your potential cup-winning window may have closed though.

    Go Badgers!

Oh wait, pro teams? Well, then I'd have to go with Detroit, 'cause fuck if I'm going to root for anything from Chicago or Minnesota and I like to try and keep my team rooting at least somewhat local.

Go Jets go! Uh... I mean Phoenix. Damnit!

I was a Devils fan when I was really, really young, but I'm still bitter about how well they played the trap game. I've got a soft spot for Calgary too. I... I've had trouble supporting the Canucks even though they're my 'local' team.

I used to cheer for Detroid when I was a teenager. But it was boring. Detroid won all the time. It's no fun cheering for a team that always wins. I dunno what that says about my rabid fandom concerning the Flames, but whatever. :P

Atlanta is playing Ottawa right now, and this is the best Atlanta has looked so far. It's 1 -1 with a minute left in the second, the Thrashers have the chance to be the first team to beat Ottawa and end their streak.

Besides, if I'm gonna cream all over a player, right now it's gonna be Dion Phaneuf. Holy fuck did he ever wreck people in the opening two games in Calgary.

EDIT: And young people? Dude, I was a fan when CALGARY won the cup. So I was around when Roy was at the height of his popularity.
