A friend of mine got the Metal Gear Solid 3 codec on his phone.
It could have been worse I guess. Although probably not by much.
I think that the MGS codec sound is actually a good ringtone, in that it's short, distinct, not obnoxious, and carries the "someone wants to talk to me" impulse, especially if you've actually played the game.
Downside might be that you think your phone's ringing when you play the game.
The codec is my ringtone, but my phone's on silent 90% of the time anyway. I also use the 24 tone as my text alert. But really, anything's better than having some bloody song as your ringtone.
Yeah most "song" ringtones are shit. But I don't know that it's necessarily because they are music.
I think that it may be that the sort of people who pay to download ringtones are largely cretins who think that they genuinely like the shit music that they hear on the radio and wouldn't understand that they only think they like it because of force-fed repetition. So, as a result, these are the majority of the people with song ringtones, and their songs are always annoying shit like that fucking "bananas" song by Gwen Stefani.
if i have an immediately recognizable tone, i keep phantom-hearing it whenever i listen to music, so i give my friends custom rings and the default ring is the loudest most obnoxious MIDI shit ever
I use part of Paint it Black as my general ring tone, with various other songs for specific people who call most often.
But I would never pay for a fucking ring tone, that's retarded. I don't see what's so hard about editing your own mp3s.
my phone is set up so you have to buy from them to use it, you can't just transfer an mp3
Yeah I don't think I can do it any other way. Fortunately I don't really care.
Before I had this phone I just sucked it up and used whatever crap ring tones came with the phone. I mean, I spend money on some stupid shit, but there are limits...
