I've only ever played the demo, and was actually considering picking up the Orange Box largely just for Half-Life 2. My computer ran the demo rather well, so I should be alright to play the full game. If you don't mind the chance that I won't be able to play it until I pick up a new video card in a month, I'd love to get it from you.

Well, though I'm admittedly somewhat new to these forums, I can at least make the dubious claim to have been lurking for a fairly long while. I've played Half-Life 2 Deathmatch fairly heavily thanks to Valve's ATI related offer, and I'm deeply impressed by the graphics engine along with what that engine was depicting. I loved Half-Life 1, Opposing Force and Blue Shift. Perhaps it might be time to see if some kind soul might grant me access to the dystopian future so beautifully presented in Half-Life 2.
I don't really have a PC capable of running them and I own Half Life 2 on the original Xbox, and 360 and obviously Episode 1 and 2 on 360 as well but when I do get a new PC I would ilke to have these games on my Steam account.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but assuming that the people that receive Half-Life 2 and/or Half-Life 2 Episode 1 as gifts then get the Orange Box, can they then gift Half-Life 2 and/or Half-Life 2 Episode 1? It's like a vicious cycle of gifting and then buying, except no one actually loses.

That's incredible. Valve just can't create enough awesome, can it?
Also, I suppose this will come across as horrifically pushy, but if some kind person would be prepared to gift me Half-Life 2, I'd be fantastically grateful.
unless someone knows a way to register a cd key from an actual cd. My first HL2 cd doesn't read and steam says that I have to have it installed before I can activate it.
I think it's only possible to gift Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 1. This is largely a totally awesome way for Valve to encourage people to buy the Orange Box by handing two awesome games.
Also, given it seems I've been overlooked twice for Half-Life 2 since my original groveling post, I'd like to restate that my sorry, scheming hide would like a copy. I know, I'm in no position to ask in the way I'm asking. It's just that I want some of that sweet, sweet Half-Life 2 action. :<
