It's a Linksys WRTGwhatever v3 (the super common one), and I'm using my Macbook Pro. While I'm browsing the internet, or playing Xbox Live (as I share an internet connection through the Macbook), the router will occasionally drop its signal. The problem isn't specific to me either - my roommates and their PCs receive the same problem. I've noticed it seems to happen when clicking on certain things online (logging into my calculus Webwork, clicking on my bank account to see my transactions, or if I try to view downloadable dashboard themes from my Xbox). It won't freak out when downloading large files and using a high amount of bandwidth, so I can't figure it out. Resetting it doesn't really do anything. Any idea?
Sounds almost like it's taking a crap when you're visiting a secure (https) site. Have you tried upgrading the firmware on the router? I just upgraded my WRT54G v5 today as I noticed there was a new firmware package.
It might be the secure site thing. If I click on an eBay Store link on eBay, the signal disappears, every time, and it takes a minute or so to come back. I updated the firmware, but it didn't solve anything. I've never seen anything like this before, and it's been worse tonight than since it started.
