Some of the computer screens shown a world map with the Ukraine area blinking, so I'd think that is about right.

    OH. SHIT.

Regarding my above nested spoilers. Orange Box spoilers.
The combine are organics that have supplanted themselves with the mechanical. Very Borg-like. GlaDOS is a mechanical AI infused with genetic information and organic brain scans. Very much like Data.

If GlaDOS's tech fell into the hands of the Combine, then some REALLY bad shit could be in the works. It already sounds like the advisors are able to suck memories/thoughts out of people, like Starship Trooper brain bugs. But.. Oh man. There's just some BAD shit that could happen if GlaDOS and the Combine ever butt heads.

There were some really pretty outdoor areas in this game.

I still think fire in HL2 / Source mods in general looks like shit though. Even when I first played HL2 on release day.

I think the character models and textures on characters are ok now but all the environmental textures still look like shit IMHO.

Kazhiim, it might be a tad too early for that. Maybe in spoilers, perhaps, but that particular hunt is a relished part of the game for some.

how is that the advisors just mosey on in and no one notices? they aren't exactly stealthy. rent tried to say that the strider attack was a decoy, but wtf, how would a base on alert not notice two giant flying pigs hovering around the base.

    endgame spoilers
Well.. most everyone was inside for the missile launch. And they had just fended off an insane attack. And.. mind takers. Yeah.

    Spolier part two, Re: Bitch
It makes complete and utter sense that the Advisors have absolutely no impact on Dog. He's not a human, he's an AI. He's mechanical. And so far we've seen absolutely 0 tech of the Combine's that doesn't have some organic parts.

    Portal spoilers
This might mean GlaDOS has some future role to play.

I am SO dying for Black Mesa source. I'm about 90% convinced that Valve is helping them, to make it as good as possible. The re-introduction of Magnusson is important, to get the character established. I just think that Black Mesa is going to grow even more important as time goes on, especially now that the citadels are disrupted. After all, there are only 3 places with the tech that the Combine needs...
    Black Mesa's Lambda Facility
    Aperture Science's AI core
    The Borealis.
not sure why you brought up dog. it wasn't the ending itself that annoyed me but where it took place. if they had moved in while the striders were attacking, they would have been noticed, if they moved in after the attack, they would have been noticed.

maybe they were noticed and just didn't give a shit. it was probably a desperate last stab in which they happened to luck out OR maybe some G-Man intervention. they knew where you were because of the huge fucking rocket you just fired. they came in to just try and get SOMETHING, and leave.

    Not to mention:
Alyx and Magnusson convinced Eli not to go because if something were to happen to him, the ENTIRE structure of the resistance would be compromised. Well.. Now it's been compromised. In fact, there could be an entire part about re-securing the Resistance before you head off. I don't think so, though, because they need to get moving to have events play out right.

Lamar is de-beaked. Can't chew shit.

And, perhaps the most angering thing in the game, buncha spoilers...
I took the fucking garden gnome ALL THE DAMN WAY TO THE ROCKET. If you haven't done this, you can't imagine how much of a pain in the ass it is. I had to re-do sections because I thought I would come back to an area to pick it up again, but nope! No backtracking. Worst of all, though, were all the car segments: that fucker would fall out of the car if you did anything more than lightly tap the turn key while moving. This was the WORST when you first met the goddamn helicopter. Had to reload a half-dozen times just to get through that fucking gauntlet. Every time I had to turn I'd have to get out, find the fucking gnome, toss him back in the car, and get back in. All the while I'm getting shot at by a helicopter that will ALSO hit the gnome and send it flying. God-fucking-damnit.

And I can't sprint for the majority of the game, because I'm carrying a fucking gnome. That was fun in the antlion tunnels when you had to dodge the guardian.

So, I finally make it to the goddamn rocket. Drop the gnome in there, and assume I'll get the achievement when the rocket finally launches. NOPE! I didn't get JACK SHIT. What the fuck? What the FUCK do I need to do to get that fucking achievement? I did what MADE SENSE. Why didn't it fucking work?

    GRAAAAAAAH

At least I'm PRETTY SURE I made a save at that time, just in case some shit like that happened.

Yeah, I only spotted him once though. When alex is like, wow, we are lucky they moved the car that far out onto the bridge, if you look down the length of the bridge you will slowly see the g-man walking away, clearly stating that he is altering things to assist you.

disappointing? it beat the shit outta bioshock's.

If you enjoy halo 2 style endings sure

it wasn't halo2 style. it left you with a strong emotion. bioshock's evil ending was just lame, and the good ending was trying too hard

    Ending spoilers
It pissed me off that, that was all.

That what, despite you holding off a huge strider advance that you were powerless to prevent it?

or angry's point about them sneaking behind and taking you by suprise?

    ending spoilers
I wanted Eli to explain the g-man interaction with him and everything but nooooo valve has to kill him off. It ended really abruptly and was hoping there was an episode 3 teaser after the credits to tide me over but no. NO.

    oh you
    ending spoilers
    that's WHY they(Valve) killed him off :(

    Y'know..
Aftewards, I'm honestly not that surprised anymore that they killed him off. I mean, they WERE pretty much setting it up with Eli's "OMG I GOTS TO TELL YOU STUFFS" deal.

Now, has anyone found out how to get the music from Episode 2 through the Valve folders like with Episode 1?

Also, if there's any legality issues with this then correct me. It was popular when Ep.1 came out and a bunch of people were talking about it here, but my bad if it's not cool. There aren't any soundtracks available and the music rocked.

Download GCFScape, and then go into the steamapps/episode two content file. Its really easy actually, took me all of 5 mins to download and figure it out.

Also, yeah, if im in the wrong for explaining that, someone tell me and ill erase/pm/hide from the government.

Spoilers about the end of Episode 2 and speculation about Episode 3:
It's so obvious that Alyx will have to die to destroy the Borealis. The foreshadowing was so thick it almost made me sick.

I personally failed this run through and didnt spot the Gman once.

I usually spot him a lot, at least the in other games.

He's not around. He hasn't been since the Vorts did something at the start of Episode One. (You don't see him standing around then, either)

I can assure you he IS in episode 2.

    As to the ending:
Maybe the advisors sneaked in during the huge attack, and just laid low and bid their time until they felt they had the exact right moment to pounce?

    edit: Should finish reading thread
The advisers were there when you pull the switch to close the second silo. Your vision goes wonky at one point and you get a quick glimpse of one of them before the silo doors close.
