Just picked up Old Man's War based purely on what I'd read in this thread, and it is indeed awesome. 114 pages in and I just picked it up during my lunch hour.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the book. I just thought it was too short and didn't have as much depth as I typically enjoy in a space drama. It was like sci-fi lite. It was a good read, good enough that I'd have liked to read more, but it's pretty short.

That series has become one of my latest obsessions, and I've been working on collecting all 9 (soon to be 10) trades that make up the series. If you like those 3, I can only recommend looking out for the others. The series just keeps getting more and more awesome as the issues go by.

I dug up my copy of Old Man's War to reread. Just finished it and I guess I glossed over the backcover, but I didn't realize this was an ongoing series. I thought he published it as a one-shot deal. Pleasantly surprised to see there's already 2 sequels out, and that they're continuation of the same characters. Will have to pick them up soon.
And its no easter bunny package! Its my Santa Mrsnackroad! Who (with a blatant display of telepathy and/or camping in my bushes) also timed the package to arrive on my Birthday! SCORE!
Sadly my dog was not impressed by the wrapping and would not pose for a picture. But the wife managed to snag the package from the poastman and wrap it up nicely for my birthday before I came home. Thanks honey!

Really you couldn't have timed it better though. Christmas I was still deployed, and wouldn't have really gotten a chance to open it myself and it wouldn't have been nearly as special. I know that you were probably pulling your hair out about it, and I know thats frustrating. But it came at a great time, and it really was an awesome AWESOME gift. ;-)
