Oh man guys. I just played 4 or 5 different classes in the PvP Beta.
They were all fun, and strangely enough, all of them played really well once you got your groove on.
At level 20 (out of 80) I feel that this game has more PvP depth than WoW had at the very high end. I can't wait to see what guilds can do with this game.
Did you do any fatality moves? And if so, while these moves are happening are you vulnerable to attack and can you stop the moves.. etc.

Did one against an NPC boss that was awesome. Knocked him on his back and them skewered him into the ground with a broken oar.
I've only pulled off one or two fatalities in PvP combat. One happened so fast I didn't even notice it at first (lopped someones head off.) the other was the conclusion to a one on one fight so it was a non-issue. I don't know, they don't take that much more time than the usual combo finishers. Never see it be an issue for anyone or hear any complaints.
im with morskitter here , this game seems like it might be vanguard 2.0 and im not willing to jmp into it again as much as i actualy liked vanguard. if there is a trial imall over it as much as this game woul mae my computer cry
As long as its Vanguard 2.0 and works, I'm in. I'll probably jump in on the fileplanet beta. Even though I hate fileplanet I'm impatient and would rather spend 7 bucks to try the game out as opposed to wait for a free trial.
Yeah, I think it would be impossible for this to be Vanguard 2.0. We've seen, y'now... content already. And the beta works, supposedly.
That's a *huge* head start over Vanguard.
I never got into WoW, CoX, SWG, or EQ enough to get burnt out on standard MMO gameplay. I want more of that, but in a world I like with more PvP. I do love me some Hyborea though. Especially if I found the time for both a traditional PvP MMO and the unique combat of AoC on the Xbox or something.
Bah, I switched my Amazon preorder to Gamestop just to get the freaking Mammoth. Apparently at one point Amazon did offer it, but they're giving out the bow instead now : /
I think I'm going to preorder this game. I've watched quite a few videos and read up on it and I'm really pumped about it. It seems like Shadowbane and Vanguard combined and I loved both of those (no matter how flawed they may be).

If we do get more and more interest going as the game approaches release we all should band together for a guild, at least I'm sure we could work with one another and get things off the ground. With us posting from this board at least that might help us work together rather than joining some two bit guild ran by some power crazed punk.

Yeah, I'm down with a PA for the start but in order to get any of the keeps and such we'll probably have to eventually join a bigger guild.

Well I'm in Europe, so I think the Sons of Krahulik is pretty much offlimits as I don't think they'll allow us dirty foreigners onto US servers :P
You could always import a US copy.
Also, I think that we won't have much trouble getting people in on the PA guild. AoC seems like it could be pretty damn popular and I'm sure more and more PA members will start to play, so we'll have a nice recruiting base. I need to make our site look shinier...

There may even be a need for two PA guilds, since AoC will have both FFA-PvP servers for the manly men of manliness and PvE servers for those of us tear-stained carebears who want to remain as far away as possible from the gank-crazed virtual sociopaths who've been yearning for a FFA-PvP server since UO or Shadowbane or whatever the fuck the last "real PvP" MMO was.
Have they made it clear what the FFA servers will even mean? Is it just like UO, where it's totally not faction-based?
I don't think Funcom has clarified what their exact FFA or RP-PvP rulesets are, but based on this old-ish interview and the PvP page on the AoC site it looks like there may be a bounty system in place, and that outside of certain hubs everyone's PvP flagged all the time. I don't think there are any factions in the game other than guilds.
I think my enthusiasm's died down. I'm not the kinda guy to hop into an MMO without trying it, and since I'm obviously not in the beta at this point, and CoX Issue 12 will be coming out at about the same time...well, I hope it won't take them a year to start putting out free trials.

Meh, that probably depends entirely on how the launch goes and how beta like the release client is. I'm sure a free trial is pretty low on their list of priorities.

Heh, can you imagine the internet riots there would be if you had to pay $15 on top of the box price?
Fear not, good sir: for those of us purchasing the collector's edition, they're supposed to come with 5 coupons that are essentially free trials. Since I'm a kind soul, I will give you one.

Just saw this and had to laugh. I also did the same thing on blood ravine. It was me and a priest against 3 of their guys on our hill. They were zerging to our flag with no other team members in sight. I thought my knockdown ability only worked for on one guy but apparently it works in a radius because the guy in front and behind me both fell to their deaths. The conqueror that was left was scared crapless.
I just hope Necros don't get too nerfed at and after release. I can't recall any mmog that had them as powerful later in it's life then they were at the beginning.

I'm sure a team of 10 guardians with pole arms would have rippled through those zombies like they were rag dolls.
That's the problem with groups of all of one class, really good until you fight classes that can exploit your weaknesses.

No delays, no queues, just performance.
:^:
Hopefully MMOs are too mass market to have shit launches anymore.
Wow, that sounds like the exact opposite of the last Tech Beta.
I feel so semi-productive now. :P
Someday soon we might even use the CLAN FORUMS! *gasp*

There are three different races, yes, but they can team up or fight each other if they want to.
The only people you swear allegiance to out in the borderlands is your guild.
Just the way I like it. I hate being forced to put up with annoying people on my faction. In AoC I can kill them!

You mean the 30 days free when you purchase? Yeah, that seems to be standard with any MMO, I'm sure they'll do that.

By far one of my favorite moments in an MMO.
Because I don't want one!
But are they available? And how much?
Not that I want one.
I would think they are.

Yeah, this game pretty much put me over the tipping point for upgrading. I wasn't going to but between TF2 and AoC I figured it'd be worth it.
