Nintendo home consoles are designed for use through home televisions and VCRs, using standard A/V, or RF connectors. Computer monitors typically do not have these connections. There are however two ways a hookup to a computer monitor could be accomplished:
With a PC TV Card:
A TV card inserted into your PC may allow you to connect your system if the card has the proper connections (such as RF, A/V, or Coaxial). However, we have found that the image quality is not as clear as it is on a TV, in most cases.
With a Direct Connection (RGB or DVI Cables):
Nintendo does not manufacture any cables to make an RGB or DVI connection. While other companies may manufacture wires that can make this possible, we are not able to recommend them, as they are not licensed by Nintendo.
Caveats: it will only work with 480p-enabled games. Not every Wii or Gamecube game is 480p. To the best of my knowlege, everything on the VC except for NeoGeo stuff is 480p, but retail games are a different story: off the top of my head, Metal Slug Anthology and Trauma Center:SO are 480i-only. Also it costs like $40.
(Oh, and any non-Vdigi "VGA Box" type thing is worthless, not even valuable as a paperweight. This is the only option that doesn't totally suck.)

Have you (or anyone else) tried this? I am tempted to pick this up and see if it works for my monitor, but I want to have some faith that it will work beforehand.
Also VDigi's website says it is: Compatible with Japan, U.S. and UK version console Wii, backward compatible with Gamecube 480p supported games. So maybe the 480p requirement is only for Gamecube (and VC) games?
But it looks very promising. Unless someone has a review I'll consider this question answered and the post ready for locking.

Well, I just purchased it and its already shipped, so I can report back here when I get it to let you all know how it works.

The vga cable came in today. I tried it out and it worked! The only problem is that the cable had a female vga end, but luckily I had a male/male connector to hook it up properly. As of right now, there are no problems with this whatsoever. I have a 22" widescreen monitor, and everything looked good.
It seemed okay. However, I am not one to really complain about graphics. Also, I was trying it out with Guitar Hero, so I wasnt really paying attention to the graphics much anyways.
It arrived within a week and works fine (with just that little niggle about the female VGA connector). Graphics look perfect for me. If your Wii's settings haven't already been changed to 480p you'll need a TV to do that. That's all though, no problems so far.

Thank you!
So did any company get around to making such a product?
p.s. An old thread asking a similar question...
Not that I know of, but then again I'm really not too much "in the know" either.
It works by transcoding the component output.
