Happy near-Halloween cox and dicks,
This very evening my girlfriend called me to tell me she was changing her Halloween costume. Instead of Smurfette, who she was going to go as, she decided she now wants to go as "a furry". Specifically a catgirl. Now this came as a surprise to me as I have my Ash (Army of Darkness style) costume picked out already and assembled to everything but the chainsaw. Smurfette was a little silly but I was fine with it and I thought it might be cute at least. Now I'm troubled.
I tried explaining to her that people are going to think she's a real furry and that we should do something to parody it, but no. She's excited about dressing up in cat-ears and a tail and possibly some gloves or some shit. I'm pissed not only because of the freakish connotations of furrydom (sorry SE++ furries, your lifestyle living in an alternate reality game frightens me. I'm sure you're good people otherwise). but also because a girl dressing as a 'cat' for Halloween is both lame AND cliche. She hasn't shopped for her costume yet so I'll try talking her out of it when I see her tomorrow.
To keep in the theme of bad costume ideas, however, I'll share with you my worst decision. It was a long time ago and I was in the cub scouts. I decided I wanted to be superman for halloween and had the blue shirt and pajama pants to go with it. My mother helped me by making a cape and attaching it to my shirt via sticky velcro strips and she made a belt out of some kind of reflective plasticy ribbon stuff. Now all we needed was the tights/speedo for the crotch area.
Thinking on my feet I remarked that I could dye my underwear red and wear those over my pants. My mother, a little hesitantly decided it would be alright and I went as Super-underwear-on-the-outside-man for Halloween that year. There was much joking and amusement at my expense.
Any bad costume ideas or sympathy for my girlfriend about to embarrass me?

OH and it turns out she was going to be a fox, not a cat. Now I have her going as an Otaku, which is an easier choice to do and less-embarrassing since it will be easily seen as a parody and not serious. Otaku don't go as themselves for Halloween, furries do.

As a note, I went as a bunny for Halloween many years - I was little and oblivious to the salacious connotations at the time, and now bluster at what people might have thought.
Worst costume? Hollywood Movie Extra. I was too cheap and lazy to get a real costume. And I despise that I've been a gypsy twice.
