I agree. With portal being the topic lately, robots would obviously first come to mind. But I think Vortigaunts fit the profile better. Their "slouch" would give their profile a shoulder line without an outlined head, as in that ascii.

Not familiar with all the stuff in that one, are ya?
It involved, among other things:
•planting a USB drive in a bathroom with one of the tracks from the new album on it to be found by a random fan, but with extra static at the end which, when put through a spectrograph had a hand of one of the characters:
•The aforementioned telephone number was also hidden in static and revealed via spectrogram, as well
•Other things embedded in images on some of the websites linked to from various places
•Morse code involved as well pointing to another website, etc
Mind you, the "calling in with a modem in order to access the site" level of geekdom isn't there, but there was a great deal of it. It was also intended to tell a creepy story, which is why I've got no problem saying it creeped me out a little. But this one is just plain old fun.

So do we know exactly what images are legit and which ones are joke/fake images spread by silly gooses
Because the only ones that seem legit so far are the ones from the login/password thing (ascii GlaDOS and a bit of text from cjohnson and a second ascii thing that I don't know what it is)
There's images featuring the turrets and two bipedal things holding hands but do we know that those are legit? And then there's other images apparently featuring two silhouettes of what appear to be people
