My friend just got an external hard drive (USB connected) and she asked me whether or not she could move all of her music onto it and and play it from the external HD. Meaning, she wants to delete all of the music from her main HD for free space and to tell her iTunes to load her music library from the connected external HD.
I wasn't certain if it would work or not, but I feel it should work. I figure an external HD is not really meant for constant data retrieval and usage andm ore of just storage, as USB is a lot slower, but it would still work right?
In the mean time I told her to try running a song from the external to see if it would. But I want to double check with you guys.
The external drive is still a drive. As long as it is connected to your computer, any program can read from it. I have all my media on a 40gig external drive and I have had no problems with programs detecting it.

Ditto. All of my music is on a removable drive.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?
