The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Hollywood's out of ideas, blah blah, THEY'RE FUCKING UP THE WARRIORS. NO.
I didn't really give a shit that we've seen asstacular remakes of 'awesome' shows and movies from the film industry lately. I merely ignored them and saw the ones I were told to be watchable/ enjoyable.
But MTV messing with The Warriors is too fucking much, guys.
I just watched this movie again last weekend, and I don't see any reason why the fuck this movie needs "updating" for new audiences. So what if the gangs are alittle ridiculous? That's part of what's so awesome about it.
Instead, we're getting a gutted version which will most likely be filled with "gangsta's" and involve heavier gunplay, which detracts from the brutal fighitng of the original.
FUCK you, Hollywood.
That shit ain't right.

Screenwriters are hard to come by in Hollywood. Do you understand how few people there are who can write a script? It's not like they have screenwriting classes, you know. It takes years of experience and if you're a producer you have to pay somebody thousands of dollars to even glimpse at their script. Not to mention the intellectual property concerns, it's not like you can just pay a up and coming screenwriter $50k plus 0.1% of gross for rights to their script.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

I like how there are so many people in Hollywood who think they can make it as screenwriters. It's kind of like how there are so many English majors who think they can make it as novelists.

Everything in Hollywood is based more on networking than talent.
If you can't talk to people, you're not going to make it. You have to be able to successfully pitch your idea.
Unfortunantly, good writers tend to be anti-social, and have problems with this.

Meh. I like the original, but it's not like it's some perfect piece of cinematography that shouldn't be touched. It's just a cheesy-as-fuck cult classic.

It's both funny and depressing taking a writing course and seeing what these people produce.
Then again, this is also true of many successful novelists, much like with screenwriters. :P
