Are there any other PA'ers with Mythos invites? Hoping to put some more names in the OP, as Both Exist and I ran out of invites about 15 mins into the thread, and I'd love to get some more invites flowing to people asking for them.

I'm having trouble deciding which class to focus on. With only 3 classes, I know that there's going to be a wide array of possibilities for speccing. Do you more experienced guys have any input or a general rundown of what to expect from any of the classes?

The only class I can speak at length on is the Bloodletter.

But, it has some really nice variation among the trees. As, you can either go for a summoner type build with bloodlings/imps, and caster abilities (blood boil, blood command). Or you can go with a melee build.

I've tried the summoner build, but I didn't have much success with it. My Bloodlings dropped pretty fast. However, sine then they've had their HP increased. So, it may be better now. Right now, I'm going with a melee/caster hybrid build. I've focused mostly on Slicing Dervish (pick this skill up, no matter what build you take), Blood Boil, Blood Command, and Sever. Right now, I'm level 9, and liking the build quite a lot. I want to go back and try a summoner build next, however.

Too bad you are out of invites. I could always use a good diablo clone. Signed up on the site, guess I'll see where that takes me.

I haven't logged on in about a month, but unless they've fixed them stay away from gadgeteers - it's damn-near impossible to aim and shoot effectively with them, defeating their purpose.

I haven't played a Gadgeteer in the new build yet, but I haven't see people complaining of this any more. Honestly, they have changed a lot with this new build.

Alright. I'll add you into the OP as being out of invites for the moment.

Yeah, I completely agree with this game being a lot more interesting than HG:L right now. The new skill implementation has been wonderful, aside from balancing, and a couple of smaller things, I think they've really got the bigger picture on skills.

Not only that, but Travis Baldtree and a lot of Mythos' other developers are very active on the Mythos boards right now. It's funny, because someone will make a suggestion, then about 15 minutes later Travis will reply with "OK, we've gone ahead and changed this. Try it out now." He also asks for input on a lot of ideas before they go into the game. As well as admitting shortcomings, and showing that he is working on them. Honestly, FSS is in their own league as far as developer-player interaction is concerned, and it really shows through with Baldtree's work on Mythos.

I can't say it enough, Mythos has really come a long way. The game is looking great right now.

Could someone throw me an invite? sonofalich@hotmail.com

I'll edit this post if/when I get invite so there's no confusion.

Invited! That was my first and last invite.

My experience with Mythos has been very good, if constrained by my college's poor internet connection (turns out it's the upload cap that's killer, surprisingly). I have a little Gremlin named Phytolith who is a Pyromancer. I decided to take him down the pure-magic Flamecaster tree, instead of the magic-and-summons Coalsmasher tree or the melee Cinderblade tree (how's that for variety?).

My starter equipment gave me a point in this Fist of Flame spell that's a little like Arctic Blast in D2: think fire-breathing. It was low-range and cumbersome. I am not a fan. Instead, I picked up Flame Dart and started putting the rest of my points into unlocking new tiers (this is like Titan Quest, except that you don't get bonus stats from pumping the tree -- and that you unlock all three trees at once). Flame Dart shoots a thin line of fire that does relatively low damage, but can pierce through monsters to hit even more monsters. It also has a low mana cost. Its two upgrades make it a) bounce off walls and b) splinter into secondary darts whenever it hits a monster. I haven't been able to try upgrade B, but it sounds awesome. I think I'm level 5 or 6 now.

It looks like I'll be playing in the morning, mostly, between 6 and 7 AM. If anyone else rises similarly early, I would be delighted to meet up and crash some dungeons.

    P.S. Excellent thread title!

Sometime early on in the Alpha. I don't think FSS was planning on this game doing much of anything, as it was originally created just to test Ping0's network code.

This game can run on very low-end PC's (I'd say anything in the last 4 years or so), but you may be pushing it with that.

I'm playing as a Bloodletter right now. From the skill descriptions, it seems like 2h weapons will generally be superior to dual wield, so I'm gonna try that. However, all of the 2h I've found (polearms only) require as much Dex to use as Str. Is pumping Dex and Str up evenly common for bloodletters?

Okay, good enough for me. I should be fine.

I've played F.E.A.R. on this computer. The graphics were set a little low, but nothing terrible. And the framerate was at least 25, which is quite bearable.

    Edit:

Nevermind. Even though the art is awesome, and I'm sure the game would be fun, I really hated Diablo 2's gameplay. I'm sure this would be the same. Entertaining for a day or two, and then several hours of tedium. Not my thing.

That came off as harsh. Just a personal preference, not intended to be offensive.

If you are using Two-handers, the yes Dex and Str are equally as important. Obviously your HP/MP is going to suffer a bit. I'd recommend going for Slicing Dervish ASAP, and maxing that if you are going for two handers. You will have incredibly sick damage that way. Also, if your weapon is bladed (look for "slashing" damage) you can still use Parry/Turnabout, which should help offset your defenses a bit.

Quite honestly, this game is very unfinished, and it comes pretty close for me. The only thing I wish they'd do is increase the combat speed just a bit more. They certainly are getting the point, as they increased the leveling/combat speed considerably with the last patch. So, in essence, I'm very hopeful with Mythos.
