I'm getting somekind of memory leak. it slows down the longer I play and eventually closes and desktop with a message that says no more memory.
yeah, it's a memory leak
Does this still exist on Test Center with the patch0 stuff? There were some client updates when I connected to it, but I didn't play long enough to have the memory leak affect the game.
Well... I'd say it's likely that significant progress has been made on fixing those memory leaks. Chopped up list of graphics improvements:
Graphics
* Improved memory usage and long-term stability
* Improved multiplayer stability
* Improved station performance and stability
* Improved DX10 initial load time
* Improved performance in DX10
* Improved appearance of motion blur in DX10
* DX10 smoke now scales better with multi-GPU
* Fixed several loading screen bugs
* Fixed issues with “Low” Shadow Detail
* Fixed overly shiny characters when Shader Detail is set to “High”
Never had the memory leak issue, but the Patch 0 update on the test server certainly solved the choppiness I was experiencing in the spiral staircase sewer maps.
Yeah the memory leaks are much less persistent. I was actually able to close the game without it taking forever to finally show my desktop, which is a great step ahead.
Also: Under Audio options there's options for XFire, which is pretty damn cool.
Okay. Does anyone know where to subscribe to the game, and get the founders deal? I can't find anyone who knows anything about this.
I thought it was supposed to show up in the billing section of your account once the games actually been release and there is a billing section to your account
I can't for the life of me understand what the poor chatframe did to the devs to deserve such brutal treatment. It used to be a tad annoying, but now it's just plain crap. I really hope they think of some other system than a huge intrusive frame that has to be toggled with a button. Let's say you're in a party, you toggle the frame back and forth pretty much all the time because you can't smell if someone is talking to you. Then you type something and try to move afterwards, which results in wwasawsw in the chat. So then you close it, never knowing what people might reply, unless you toggle it back again. I mean, wtf?
I really like all the other changes on the test server though, i just wish they were implemented on the EU beta server. That'll prolly come soon enough.
My understanding was that the billing portion of your account wouldn't go live until the retail is live -- so Oct. 31st? I imagine it'll require your retail key, too.
Just finished watching the podcast. Roper said they just set the minimum specs to 1GHz Pentium III, 512MB RAM, and either an nVidia 3 or an ATI 8500 w/64MB RAM. Fuck. Wonder how well it actually plays like that.
hoho, Blademasters are just ridiculous. They're a little tricky to play at first, get a lot easier with dual-wielding, but right now I have the charge ability and the heal-yourself one, as well as a few points in the first tier attacks, and nothing lasts more than one hit. Hell, the hellrift boss in the British Museum didn't even get me below 7/8 health.
I was a little sketchy about using Blademasters for pvp until I got the charge ability, but now that I can basically teleport past summons and whatnot I am pretty confident that I am awesome.
So I've been curious about something, and haven't been able to find an answer in the beta forums yet. I'm sure I already know the answer, but thought I might ask around here. Will we be able to play this "single player" over LAN with our friends like diablo 1&2, or do you have to play on their online servers to play multiplayer games?
That's what I figured. Balls to that. Its oddly easier to get my friends all into one room to lan something like this over the course of a weekend than getting them to independently log onto a game from their homes. Slackers.

Just as an aside, the reason behind this was so that the server code could be completely removed from the software that the consumer receives, to help prevent hacks.

That's great and all, and having been screwed over online countless times in diablo one and two, I can really appreciate that. However, that screwing over is what drove me offline, and honestly, I don't really play games like this for the diverse community, but to enjoy it with the friends I already have. I'm more apt to dive into an mmo community to pick up new friends, but hey, we'll see what happens.
Why not shove all of your friends into one room, set up a LAN, and use a router instead of a hub and play together in a party online? It's not like you have to even look at anyone else who's playing except in towns, and you're only really there to sell stuff and pick up/turn in quests.

Just remember, pugging = retard circus.
Just beat your friends until they log on, or play with Penny Arcade folks.
I don't PUG in HGL, I don't group except for a couple of cool folks I met in Alpha and of course Wangsters.

Because that idea makes sense, and I'm tired. Touche' sir.
I played the demo for a while. It seems really easy. I chose a marksman or whatever and didn't get hit until the big guy that drops the leg.
I put my first skill point into the flame grenade (it sounded cool) and was disappointed because the grenade doesn't behave like grenades in every other game. You hurl it, you can't see it, and then it bounces wildly and explodes nowhere near where you actually wanted it to go. What the hell? O_o
Each of the grenades has different physics, effects and timers.
I know all you have access to is the demo, but seriously, everyone else has confirmed that the demo is easy/shit/boring/short. It's a stripped down version of the pre-release version of the first area of the game that essentially serves as an ankle-deep wading pool in terms of difficulty.
Dammit, I've got to bust my ass for a stupid test where I have to watch 4 hours of 15 year old footage on Pacific Asian economies and read 230+ pages, and there is a whirlwind of awesome new stuff. Screw you, school. I'll see you guys Sunday or Monday.
My test is tomorrow, so I might be able to play a little bit after the test. I work Friday and right after it I go to a holloween party until late, then I'm in Indiana for the next two days, getting back mid to late evening Sunday.
just now many skill pts do you get by the end game, I noticed my summoner was getting skills that I didn't put any pts into.
I'm wondering just how gimped I would be if I put too much pts into early game summons when I should save the pts and put it into higher level summons.
Do we know what multi-monitor compatibility fixes/additions/features/whatever were added?
Try it out. They had some issues with running the game on one monitor and normal desktop on the other on Vista, I believe, and that got fixed internally soon after it got raised on the forums.

Hmm I've never had any issues. Maybe I just attributed the ones I had to other things.
Which server are all of these updates on? The regular, Beta server or the test center server? I asked around inside the Beta server and people said none of the updates were "live" yet.
Anyone get a higher level Summoner in the beta? of the 3 later elementals which is the most effective? I'm thinking of splitting 5 fire and five of one of the later ele's if there is a standout group.

Need to fix that.

I just realised that my HGL EU beta e-mail doesn't actually have a link in it.
