On the 20th, yes-- some sort of announcement of a Gyakuten "Not" Saiban. Which translates to Turnabout (Not) Court, which is what the series is called in Japanese.

I'm betting on Furio Tigre: Ace Attorney.

    First and second cases:
For the first case, he has to get Maggy Byrd convicted.

For the second case, representing himself, he has to growl his way out of a conviction.

    From there, it gets epic.

Guys it's totally going to be a spinoff game

My personal guess is Dick Gumshoe: Ace Detective

Just replace all the court parts with suspect interrogations and there you have it

Maggey would make an excellent sidekick as well

Except that an Edgeworth game would have practically zero tension to it since everything is on your side anyway. The whole point of the AA games is that you're a pathetic loser underdog who gets penalized for breathing too loudly while the prosecution gets away with murder (sometimes literally).

That's because, as has been exhaustively restated, the AA series is in some ways a commentary on Japan's functionally "guilty until proven innocent" court system. Move Edgey into an environment with the kind of court system we're more used to, and the shoe's on the other foot. If a prosecutor has to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the defendant committed the crime, all the tension's there.

Except that in order to get arrested in the first place, the defendant would have already look pretty guilty, so the case is built for you almost fro get-go.

And if we're going to fundamentally alter the AA universe and just plop Edgeworth in, wouldn't it make far more sense to just get a new universe?

    Looks like an Edgeworth game!
    News:
    Perfect Prosecutor (DS/Capcom/??)
    * A law adventure game where you act as the prosecutor.
    * Main characters are Miles Edgeworth, Dick Gumshoe
    * You control Edgeworth, searching for overlooked evidence and inconsistencies at the crime scene.
    * New search and deduction systems are introduced.

    Anyone have Famitsu scans yet?

An "Ace Prosecutor" game really wouldn't be all that much of a departure really. Phoenix's strategy is to prove that his client didn't do it by pointing the blame at someone else, so about halfway through every case you're basically prosecuting somebody.

EDIT: Oh whoa hey I guess that's what it is anyhow. Yeah, again, that pretty much sounds exactly like all the other AA games. Not that that's a bad thing, but the name of the project sort of implied that it'd be some kind of wild spin-off series.

Dreams of Ema Skye: Ace Detective ruined.

Also, finished case 4 of AJ.
The finale was epic, but the resolution felt kind of empty. No last minute item to offer? And as always, the innocents who get wronged never seem to recover.
