The testimony contradicts the evidence!

Hey, it's time for a new Ace Attorney game!
This OP is being seen in FACT-O-VISION! For when you have absolutely no time for creativity.
Okay, technically the series is called Ace Attorney, but most will know it as the Phoenix Wright series. There's a good reason for this, and we'll get to it later.
Let's cut to the chase: new game this week on the 23rd. I'm sure some of you rebels spat in the faces of Capcom's American counterparts and bought the game from Japan, but damn if some of us are too lazy for that shit.
For those who have never heard for the games, let's take it from the top:
What the Hell is Ace Attorney?
The Ace Attorney games (or Gyakuten Saiban for you pretentious weaboos out there) are a lawyer-ing sim that probably has little to do with real-life law firms. These games have actually been out for some time on the GBA, and Capcom decided to re-release them on the DS. It was then that these titles started to trickle over here.
It's best described as a cross between adventure games and logic puzzles. You spend time gathering evidence from the crime scene, and this plays out much like a small point-and-click adventure game. Then, in the courtroom, you cross-examine witnesses. You can press them for more information on their testimonies and normally progress by finding evidence that shows a piece of their testimony is a lie. Too many wrong OBJECTIONS, and you lose the case.
What sells the series is really the writing. It has great characters and the game can snap between wacky humor and quite gripping drama. If you don't like to read, I suggest you just leave the thread. And probably this forum. Because...you read a lot in forums.
How can I own these wonderful games!?
The nice thing about the series is that the Japanese games actually have english translations. Many people have probably BOUGHT Trials and Tribulations well before the 23rd. You could even dig up the GBA versions, though someone would have to speak up about localizations for those. I only know for sure that the DS remakes have english options.
The games do tend to be rare...especially the first game. Obviously it was an untested IP here in the savage United States (and other countries of varying civilities) so the first run was small. But demand urged MOAR copies and there was much joy. I actually missed out on the second game, and I'm having a wonderful (miserable) time finding it.
The games thus far.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

This is the first game, and notable for having more content than the original GBA game. An extra case, exclusive to the DS, is unlocked upon finishing the fourth case. It features some beefed-up graphics, and mechanics that take advantage of the DS.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All

Not to be confused with an album title, this game opens the "Psyche Lock" mechanic which allows for questioning during the investigation areas. Also, rather than "misses" for bumbling up your OBJECTIONS, you have a health bar that decreases and the amount lost is determined by how big your fuck-up is. Also, the bar persists throughout the case (no more clean slates for a new court phase).
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations

The latest game (for most of us), it does not feature any major changes in the game. Like its predecessor, the game also has no DS exclusive cases. Only the first remake has such an extra.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney

This is the REAL latest game, coming to us non-eastern folk sometime soonish. As you can see, Phoenix Wright is no longer the protagonist, which is why the "Phoenix Wright" was downplayed after the first game and the "Ace Attorney" part became the series title.
This is also the first game made FOR the DS as opposed to being a GBA remake. So, expect a lot of the stuff you saw in the first remake's bonus case but with improved visuals and sounds.
Gyakuten Saiban 5
???
Okay, I lied...this is the latest latest game, but in my defense it's not even out in Japan yet. Announced last May (if Wikipedia is being honest with me), there will be another title in the series. Not sure if it'll continue the saga of Apollo Justice or not...wait and see.
Not enough! I crave higher law content!
What? You require more courtroom hijinx???
You want every scrap of Ace Attorney art!? Character bios from every game, even!?!?

What? You need more art than THAT!?

Jesus, you want music from the game as well?

Okay, characters from the series spouting random pop culture references like jackasses. You seriously want something that retarded?

God...damnit.
Don't feel so bad, I was literally hitting the search button to find this thread when I noticed the other one.
Sort of off the topic, but that OP raises a point I've heard a lot of times about the logic in the PW games. People think that the logic doesn't work, but in reality it's just backwards, which is still logical.
It's not so much thinking about it a certain way, but it's the words that Mia drums into Phoenix at every turn. The facts support a guilty verdict, even if it wasn't guilty-until-proven-innocent, so you can't fight with them. Mia tells Phoenix several times that you know your client is innocent, so how could the known facts have come about knowing that? Once you've got all the pieces, the real truth is just as obvious as the prosecution's original case appeared at the start (hence the sheer number of witnesses confessing on the stand).
Of course that OP is great, my logic is as the kids put it "Pimp Strong."
I don't think I was trying to paint that big a logic swath with my OP, but since you brought it up, I do agree. Look at case five of AA. The first witness doesn't really lie about anything, she just isn't seeing the whole picture. Or case three even with Old bag. She sees what she thinks she is supposed to see, and draws conclusions. This is expanded greatly in the second game, as you also have a better perspective into the motive of the killers. No more Redd Whites doing something for a stupid reason, or the odd reasons for bad behavior in case four and five. Well, besides the tutorial of course. What you do have are a bunch of people who are looking for justice, leading up to the ethical problem at the heart of the game; what is justice, and what are the roles of the prosecutor and defender?
Wow. You know, I've gotta hand it to you here. I'm usually the guy that reads as far into a game as you can get (The words "It's just a game/book/movie, why are you reading so much into it?" are the bane of my existence), but you just put the series in a new light for me.
The first game has better music, better writing, better translation, better pacing.
The second one is a lot more thought provoking.
It's a lot like the differences between KOTOR and KOTOR II.
but KOTOR II had better writing than the first
Speakin' of: Anybody think playing as Edgeworth would be rockin'?
Then she channels her cousin and gets a crash-course on puberty without her clothes growing any bigger.
Japan: always gotta outset the cute with the appallingly inappropriate.
Sooo... I came to this thread wondering if anyone's been successful in finding T&T in stores today? I've been to four in downtown Montreal on my lunch break, and no luck. Any fellow Montrealers have more luck?
