The EDGE Mass Effect review is pretty much the only one I will read of the high profile outlets. At this point it is a day one purchase and has been for some time.

Games like Mass effect are almost immune to reviews. Like Halo 3 no amount of fanboy nitpicking on scores will make them sell any less than incredible numbers.

Well, kmart broke the street date. I just ran down to mine but no luck?

How about you guys? I know Vacorsis managed to snag one, I've seen him playing it.

All magazines of every type are total trash, because they are totally at the whims of the advertising that they depend so much on. Esquire wrote a story about binge drinking, and mentioned the brand "johnny walker." The company that owns them, Diageo, (the second largest alchohol company in the world) pulled all of thier advertising for a year.

It might not sound like it, but things like that can be devistating for a magazine financially. This is why I don't take anything magazines say seriously.

Today is too late. K-Mart broke the street date, but BioWare and Microsoft found out, as no one was trying to hide it, and they've already been spoken to.

I doubt you'll find any K-Marts still selling it, though maybe you will. It seemed like it was all in the eastern half of the US and it wasn't every K-Mart. It was a matter of luck if your store had a bunch of idiots that couldn't read the bright orange do not sell stickers or not and that was before the publisher was informed that K-Mart was breaking the date.

Should I bother going down to my Kmart tonight? They said "No" when I called yesterday, but my desire for this game is making me wonder if I shouldn't just go down there anyway.

Edge is dead-on most of the time, I've never known them to sacrifice their integrity. They're really the most reliable reviewers I've seen in paper.

They occasionally give really weird scores, but usually it's because something really ticked them off and they want to make a point, rather than because they're scared of backlash or whatever. While that can be just plain wrong in many cases, I can kind of respect that.

Heh. If you have me on your list, you'll probably see me or have seen me online all day playing it, Friday through Sunday. It's that good. My joints hurt but it's the kind of game you have a hard time putting down. There's just so much depth here and replayability that you guys are going to have trouble playing other games for a good long while.

I've pretty much just been consuming Doritos for meals as I can't be assed to properly make any food as it detracts from Mass Effect playing time. By the time I'm done with the game I'll probably weigh sixty pounds. "Why make food when I can play Mass Effect?" D:

Seriously, though, this game surpasses all expectations. I'm 14 hours into it and aside from the beginning, I've only done one other main story mission. I keep flying around the galaxy and getting requests from Alliance HQ, and I've gotta' do 'em!

Edit: Some of these side quests are really long, and span multiple systems. God damn, I want to get on with the story, but the side quests just don't end. :P

Eh, screw the galaxy and let them fend for themselves! You gotta deliver the empty gray boxes to the neutral planet, then take the filled boxes to their ten bestest friends! After that, you have basement rats to kill!
I cannot WAIT. I even have vacation days set aside for the week after it comes out.

I have off the day after it comes out (hopefully the LE arrives on Tuesday), then it's thanksgiving, then I have work all day black friday, but then I have all weekend off. I'm supposed to go down the shore with friends but... I might need to make an excuse. fuck.

It's not. This is how long it'll be until you get them both, and I'll spoiler it for you or anyone else (it has a little location spoiler, as in the location after the beginning section, so read at your own behest):
You'll get Ashley almost right away on the first mission. That's probably about fifteen to twenty minutes into the game. There'll be a little bit of a gap before Wrex, as you have to complete the mission and then do a little running around the Citadel, but he's not too far after. I did a bunch of side quests immediately into the Citadel, so it took a little longer for me to get to him. After the Citadel, you'll have them both, and can then freely travel around the galaxy.

I think the galaxy map selection is limited at first, though. It opens up as you play, as I noticed more systems popping up within clusters, and eventually another cluster altogether.

I'm a little upset because you totally just described me...
But Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect will make me feel happiness again.

I went to Toys R Us a few hours ago because I called and they said they had plenty of copies of Mario Galaxy in. I got there and they handed me Mario Galaxy, and I asked if they had Mass Effect. They brought it out of the back and handed it to me.
I get to the Cashier, Mario Galaxy rings up as "Do not sell until 11/12." Mass Effect rings up as "Do not sell until 11/20"

I HAD THEM IN MY HANDS!!!!!!!!

I gotta say, I'm not to jealous.

I'm probably only getting this with Christmas, and while I'm really happy for the people who got it early, I am not one of them, nor would I be well as one.

Some men forge strange and new paths across the dreaded galaxies. Others, seeing their glory as beacons, follow with glad hearts.

The Casino is inside Flux which is the nightclub near the entrance of the Wards (Emily Wong, the reporter, is staring straight at the stairway to Flux when you first meet her.). The Casino is up the stairs inside the club itself. There's a stupid sort of blackjack mini-game called Quasar and a keeper near the back. The Quasar machine next to the keeper is broken and leads to a sort of scavenger hunt.

Oh my, romance subplots. I just hit one.

Liara just hit on me. She wanted to be more than friends. This actually happens pretty early in the game. Maybe some of you like blue alien women, but I turned her down. :P They live for over a thousand years, after all; I'd rather like something a little more close to home. If I go for a romance subplot, it'll be Ashley this playthrough. I'll try the Liara subplot my second one.
