wireless bridging now refuses to work

My hard drive died today, so I had to reformat on a temporary 160gb hard drive until I can get a replacement.

We can only really use wireless here, and getting to the router isn't an option. My tower has a Linksys WMP54G card that has no support for Vista, and in the past I've been able to simply bridge my LAN and Wireless connections on my notebook and plug it into my tower to get a temporary connection.

It's always worked flawlessly in the past, but today, it refuses to go.

What's happening now is that m tower sees two networks, one I assume is the network between it and the laptop, and the other is the main network on the router.

If I view the network devices from my tower it sees itself, the laptop, and strangely the router. The laptop sees my tower, the router, and the other bajillion devices in the house.

This has worked without a hitch in the past, and worked great in getting my Xbox online. So I have no fucking clue what's happening now.

Anybody have any other ideas?

(I have done some googling and found that for whatever bloody reason Ralink drivers work, so I'm going to try them but I'm not optimistic, especially not how my day has gone thus far...)

No, ralink drivers do not work. argh.

Update: It's getting an IP address from the router and everything, can see the entire network.. but still can't access webpages.
