Whew, I'm thankful that the update distracted everyone from the trash talking and perverted bets. But now I fear for the weekend. D:

As for Dedede's recovery, I'd imagine you could cancel it at the very peak and use all that vertical height.

I'm a bit confused by his Down B attack. What exactly does it do... he swings it like a normal hammer and it explodes?

Yea, I am thinking it explodes. I mean he does seem to mention that you take damage as well if it is charged too much? Did I get that right?

It sounds like Roy's charge up sword attack in many ways... Charge it up long enough and it does ungodly damage, but it explodes and does a bit to you, too.

    ROY DECONFIRMED.

Same reason we haven't seen Zelda's moves, and why neither were playable at E4A.

Sakurai knows exactly what we want to see confirmed, and he dangles it out of our reach. He sees our curiosities, our fears, our hopes, our dreams. He revels in them. They sustain him.

So that's his game! Actually, put like that everything about this seems to click into place.

Has Mega Man's moveset been talked about at all?

I was thinking something like this...

neutral - charge shot (ala samus)
down smash - mega man 3 slide
up smash - rush jump (rush comes out and turns into that spring board)
left & right smash - ??? (maybe something to change his form?)

final smash - rush assist (he jumps inside rush, who has turned into a little ship, and you can jet around the stage and fire continuously at people)

assist trophy - protoman (he hops around firing like he did in the early games when he would appear for 1-on-1 battles)

Although, I do not want him as an assist. I want him playable.

Here's how I would do Megaman if the universe was benevolent enough to let me do it.

Neutral special: Use current weapon. Default is the Mega Buster, which works like Samus' shot; it charges faster and lets him move while he charges, but it only ends up at about half the knockback and damage.

Down special: Switch weapon. He can alternate his neutral special between the Mega Buster and the weapons of any character he defeated since the round started (plus previous rounds in single player, theoretically.) Alternately, he just starts with some Robot Master classics like Metal Blade. At any rate, he definately changes color and briefly turns into a beam of light when switching weapons.

Right/Left special: Summon Beat. This is a simple projectile, but after it attacks once, it flies to attack other enemies. It can be destroyed, however. Either way, if defeated, Megaman can't use this attack again until Beat recharges.

Up Special: Summon Rush. This becomes the Rush Coil on the ground or the Rush Jet in midair.

Final Smash: I have a few ideas for this one. He can use a particularly powerful Robot Master attack. The Flashman Timestopper would be unique, if too powerful, and Gravityman's Gravity Hold is obviously overpowered. Another hit-all, like Toadman's Acid Rain, could work. Or Megaman could use the Rush Merge from Megaman 6 and 7, letting him hover and fire homing fists. I also think, if they don't become characters or costumes, that a Megaman Throughout History final smash would be neat. So X, Legends, Network Transmission, and company all appear to collectively kick an enemy's ass.

Megaman's normal and smash attacks will also use some Robot Master weapons. His down smash is a slide kick powered by Chargeman, his air attacks include the Top Spin, and his up smash can be either the Pharoah Shot or Airman's weapon. And his grab should definately resemble Gutsman's.

As for levels, I have two ideas. Doctor Wily's fortress takes place on the towers, skull heads, etc. of a usual Wily castle and features the initial Wily's Fortress music from Megaman 2. If not assists, Wily and some of his classic monsters, like the Yellow Devil, Gutsdozer, Dragon, any of the giant Metools throughout the series, and maybe even Bass will attack. The second level is the Teleportation Hatch room. The first room will be enclosed with walls at all sides, but teleporters will activate in the room, moving the fight to amalgated levels from the games. Metalman's includes conveyor belts, gears, and smashing ceilings, Gutsman's has those infamous moving platforms, Gravityman's level actually flips gravity regularly, and so on. The music is a remixed montage of a dozen Robot Master themes or so.

God...this would be so cool. Megaman would make this my favorite game ever.

That said, if things look bad, just tap down on the Control Stick.

    screenshot

You can flip over and cancel it in midair.

However, if you try to cancel just before landing, you’ll make a fool of yourself, and you’ll be vulnerable for even longer, so watch out.

Basically, you can cancel out of it, yes. However if you try to cancel out of it last minute (similar to L-cancel which is done to recover faster) then you "make a fool of yourself and you'll be vulnerable for even longer".

I understand that to say, If you're fall is not going to be good (hit anyone) and you need to cancel, then you can cancel out but it also makes you vulnerable in the air. You CAN'T use this cancel to ONLY take out the vulnerability after the landing, because then we'll make you flub it and you have to be vulnerable even longer. So doing this isn't going to "save you frames" so you can attack again sooner. AKA: sucks to be you, tournament players who cancel everything to reduce "lag".

Seriously. Smashboarder Dedede players will have it down to like the exact frame of the last possible moment that they're allowed to cancel.

Also, what the heck do you mean by "we know Sakurai knows about it now, but he doesn't appear to exactly be its biggest fan?" If he wasn't a big fan of it, why the hell did he intentionally include it in every single Smash game, this one included?

To everyone else: really, the bets are just funny and silly things that we're willing to do when our sort-of pride is on the line. I mean, it's not the whole point here: I won't hold anybody to this if they lose to me (though I'll follow through if I do), and regardless of what happens that means that I'll always have King Riptor, The Muffin Man, Dareth Ram, HylianBunny, and TehSpecter to play with. It's as much a friend-building activity as anything else.

I will reiterate: I will use Ganondorf to take on anyone on this board. I would use Ness too but we don't know if he's in yet. These matches don't have to have any bets attached or anything: at heart I'm really just looking for somebody to play with.
