I have this really nice white feather blanket. I was sick and sweaty and now the thing is really nasty.
Last time I washed it (in the washer) it got all yucky because the feather got all wet and drying it didn't help and didn't get back to normal till a few weeks after wards.
How should I clean this?
I tried spraying frebreeze on it; but didn't do much good.
I read that you're supposed to put tennis shoes in with feathered things when you dry them so that the item can be fluffed and dried more evenly as it goes round and round.
anything with feathers needs to be steam cleaned/dry cleaned, not put through a rinse cycle. If you put it through a dryer cycle you're lucky it's still in one piece.
I have a white down comforter that I slept on top of in the hot hot summer months here at school (no air conditioning) and I took it in to be dry cleaned and it only cost $15 and it came out beautifully white with no stains and all the rips patched up. I would recommend it.
The blanket is really nice, buy I got it for teh cheap. If it's going to cost $15-20 bucks to clean, I could just buy a new one for about the same price. It was on sale and they are super cheap; but I luv them so. They are so soft. I think they are made from kittens; that is how soft they are.

And I heard it was tennis balls... not shoes, to help fluff towels and such.
So something I can do at home would be best.
Though the shoes idea is pretty funny.
