Shooting people through walls is like chocolate covered orgasms. The sp plays on rails like the previous games, but it is still a great, cinematic experience. The mp is better than the any previous CoD game, though having to unlock weapons is a bit of a pain.
The game is so shallow and just a mindless shootfest, the kind of game that i am supposed to hate.
But i loved it.
It's like a popcorn movie. But a game.
My friend and I noticed it's almost exactly a season of 24. Down to the beginning with Middle Easterners but ending with Eastern Europeans for villains. And it's fun for the same reason: stupid excitement and awesome.
Also, Arcade Mode is brilliant.
you know it's funny, the whole time i was playing it i was thinking how similar to 24 it was.
24 is also a complete idiotic shitfest that takes itself too seriously, but i enjoy it immensely for the same reasons.
It's a wierd kind of balance they manage to achieve.
Yea I found that on a diff forum like 10 mins after I posted.
Really lame too, I use that steam chat a lot. There is no reason for me to buy any non valve game over steam, its so buggy
It is a problem with the latest Punkbuster - apparently it happens with just COD + xfire as well. People must have been using overlays for their scanner / wallhacks to prevent detection through PB before. It will be like the last batch of pb errors, it will be fixed with the next update.
This has to be the best multiplayer I have played in a long time. Just unlocked .50 cal last night, and I have to say that that gun is insanely awesome. I love getting compliments from pubbies and seeing everyone bumrush my corpse to take my gun. Sometimes. I like those times.
So, I've heard that this game is made of sex and awesome.
Personally, I've never really liked the CoD games that much. The historical setting crap always annoyed me. But this one looks to be pretty good.
Is it?
This is the first one I ever played. The pinnacle of WWII shooters ended with Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and it's expansions. I never cared to play any, and never cared about Call of Duty. But CoD4 is definitely killer.
So what happened to the PA 360 clan? Holidays? Busy playin other stuff? You guys fell off the face of the Earth. :P

I don't know, I noticed a lot of people just playing mass effect, and CoD4 isn't really that fun playing randoms. I juggle CoD4 multiplayer and Mass Effect mostly.
So my 6600GT came today and this game is pure sex now. Multiplayer runs smooth as butter. I even have specular on because it looks so pretty... pretty much the only thing that makes it sweat is shadows.
This game scales well.

Holidays, man. I was 300 miles away from my 360. But I'm back, had a day to recover, and will be playing tonight around 9 or 10 CST.
Knife is one of my main weapons playing HQ. I use uav jammer and stay low. People run right past and I knife them in the back. The one build I am getting sick of is dual assault + grenade launchers. I've been on servers where half the players were using it and you couldnt' take three steps without dying.
I played four player split-screen tonight at a friend's, knives only on wetwork no use of air strikes or helis. It was incredibly awesome. It's a bit of an adrenaline rush sneaking up on people and trying to watch your own back.
I'm trying to get back down the hill after being chased up it. This is ridiculously hard. I don't know how some of you can play this on veteran when I am having this much trouble on regular. The air strikes are helpful but the enemies just keep coming so it's really hard to find a time to use one. Really intense.
I can't wait to try multiplayer. Sleepy time though. I'll get to that tomorrow.
So, the demo, for the PC. Not something to base your impressions off of? Because I still rfeel rather underwhelmed.
Definitely not. I was underwhelmed with the demo too but having actually played the game now I can say that it is much much better. I haven't even played online yet and it seems that's the best part.
That mission is taken straight from the game though so you will be bored for just that one when you get to it.
auaguahguahguahguhgaaaa I love this game. I just want to talk about it all the time! Here are my classes:
Assault - M16
Claymore
Stopping Power
Deep Impact
This one stayed unchanged (other than the Claymore) for my entire career. M16 with Stopping Power is just so fantastic! So easy to kill with...
SprayK47 - AK47
Bandolier
Doubletap
Steady Aim / Deep Impact
Spray and Pray - Ak74u
Bandolier
Doubletap
Steady Aim
There sort of do the same thing, but on different maps. Doubletap is atrociously, dangerously awesome, and adding Steady Aim makes circle-strafing suddenly the best ever.

Yeah that mission is a pain in the ass. Less so than the one before it though...
that sniper mission at chernobyl, at the end where you have to wait a minute and a half for the helicopter... took me about 1.5 hours to beat it. Fucking pain in the ass
Anyway, Heat, the easiest way to beat it is:
Order 2 airstrikes right at the edge of the smoke field, one right after the other, then once its all cleared out, run towards the smoke. It should have moved down the hill a bit. Order another airstrike, hide behind some barrels, then run towards the smoke again. Just keep air striking the smoke until you reach the white fence at the top of a cliff. Just jump the fence, and book it towards the helicopter. Dont shoot anyone, dont stop, dont do anything except run. This is on regular. On the harder difficulties you probably cant do that, but its the only way i figured out how to beat that level within the 4 minutes you get

I just ran, got behind cover when I started to get hit, and ran again. -shrug-
Whats the point of having guns when grenade launchers are all you get killed by...and don't tell me long range, damn maps are so close quarters I feel sorry for people that want to snipe most of the time since the good spots are always watched.
/goes back in for more, damn it!

Once in a while I get in a match with people who are grenade happy. Usually, that doesn't happen, and often the snipers reign supreme. It's all in who you're playing against.
Just picked this up this afternoon. Worked my way to part two in single player then went to try out some multi. I'm rank 19 now and loving every minute of it.
Tried out the assault rifles at first, with a launcher, then after stealing a person's RPD over and over after killing him fell in love and am zipping through the ranks.
Can't stand rotation's that have Overgrowth or the one with the greenhouse, but I love the map in Russia with the snow.

To me, Doubletap makes the Ak74u too difficult to aim. It fires fast enough for me as is, I usually go with Stopping Power + Steady Aim.
I thought camping was impossible on these maps...but strategically placed claymores really turn me into an asshole. I just sit up in a building and take potshots; letting the claymores watch my back.

If you're still having trouble with Heat. Run to the right side of the hill as you're looking down it. Use the wooden fences for cover. And go prone in the long grass.
I didn't have any trouble with this mission whatsoever, and i'm not boasting here... use the right side of the hill. Easyness.

People talk about running down the right side, but for me (on Hardened) that didn't work at all, I always ran STRAIGHT into guards as soon as I got to the top of the slope. So here's what I did:
when the level starts, plant all 10 of your claymores in that barn on the right side of where you're making your stand (you can run through the barn and put a few outside. Guys will start coming at you from that direction soon enough.) Run in the barn in the back and grab the dragonov and the RPD (I"m guessing you're almost out of Saw/M21 ammo at this point)
Call down an airstrike on the smoke, and then a few seconds later, call down a second one. Use your sniper rifle to pick off anybody left standing in the field between you and where the hill starts to slope downward and then RUN toward the slope. Stay to the LEFT, there should be 3 or 4 guards standing up past the little shack on the left side, get down, call an airstrike on them and start ripping into them with the RPD. The airstrike should show up in time ot get the next wave coming up the hill. Keep running down the hill, use your sniper rifle as necessary and just keep droping airstrikes in front of you. Avoid the gas station thing near the bottom cause there's a bunch of guys in there, but call an airstrike down on or near it to wipe a few of them out, circle back around to the right side where the chopper should be waiting.
Right when I started I swapped out my sniper for the AK on the barrel. Launched an airstrike at the smoke and advanced from the left in the ditch. Used the launcher to finish off the remaining guys. Then I launched 2-3 airstrikes on the fence and the building behind it and picked off a few guys. I had 30 seconds left at that point so I just fucking ran as fast as I could and got to the chopper with 5 seconds to spare.
Just beat single player. So short but so very good.
The whole last mission felt like Metal Gear Solid. A hallway battle with steam pipes and crates like in MGS2, a highway chase and a HIND coming after you. And the very end when you finally kill Zakhaev. Boy was that unexpected.

The MP is pretty fun too but i think its too early, not many people were playing.

Deagle
Smoke Grenade
RPG-7v x2
Juggernaught
Martyrdom or Longer spring, depending on my mood
I've been getting top scores. People just dont expect to get multi-knifed.

Just get used to running away from dead bodies. :-P
Besides it feeling like it's really low res (why is that... ? )
It was pretty fucking awesome.
It's only 1024x600 rather than 1280x720 (joystiq)
But I think that goes for the main game as well.
I got something like an 18 or 19 kill streak on Wetwork. In a 16 max server.
And the bonus mission!
