finally dinged 55 but no prestige in sight.
after fiddling with all the guns in the game, i came to realise my favorite setup is something you get right at the start.
currently sporting m16a4 with red dot, stopping power, extreme conditioning and 3x special nades (flashbangs).
the sniper weapons are ridiculously underpowered, and some LMGs are just .. godly spray weapons. which i think needs a nerf. seriously.
m60 or that russian one with bandolier, double tap and steadyaim with grip and the worlds your oyster.
You can't have the bandolier and grip at the same time. Double tap isn't really need for them to dominate either.

well the m60 has a sort of slow rate of fire.
i find double tap helps a bit with that.
I heard there are golden guns?
might have to try get a golden m16.
Yeah, you have to finish all the challenges for each weapon category to get the golden skins (except the .50cal, you get that at level 55 iirc). The M60 is offset by the highest accuracy and damage for the lmgs. I like red dot, bandolier, slight of hand, and steady aim with it.
Has anyone actually beaten the epilogue on veteran?
I can get to the white narrow hall with all the shotgun dudes but by that time I'm out of...time
I figured a liberal use of flash grenades (as they give you more about half way through) and constantly moving forward was the way to do it but I'm still coming up short about 15 seconds

PB currently doesn't like chat programs that use overlays. Start it form the cod4 folder instead of the steam shortcut.
Got my M4 and red dot scope online. Running that with a silenced USP and 2x RPG, Stopping Power, and Steady Aim. Got second place on my team with 31 kills.
I racked up a ton after I got a 5 kill streak and dropped an airstrike and took care of 3 more. I then used the UAV and my team proceeded to mangle the enemies.
has anyone other than pretentious have problems playing online with steam?
i'm - that close to buying.

The only issues so far have been very quickly remedied with easy fixes. Buy it.

I just picked this up yesterday (PC version). I played the demo of the first CoD way back when it came out and didn't like it much (Probably because I was already tired of WW2 shooters at that point). I ended up getting this because my buddy wants to try it multiplayer.
Well, I just finished the single player campaign and basically, it was FPS storytelling done right. There were parts that felt a bit too arcadey because of the sheer volume of enemies, but ultimately, it was about the most fun I've had with FPS gaming in a while and I just picked up the Orange Box as well. :P
Of course, HL2 ep 2 is broken for me (Freezes at the same point in the game no matter what), so that may have something to do with it. :P

If you use Xfire, you will probably have problems joining friends in game. My buddy can connect to any game I am in. When I try to connect to a game he is in, it just opens COD4 and sits at the menu screen. Kind of a pain in the ass.

Unlocked the M14 last night before bed. I've been playing a ton of headquarters the last couple of days since you can rack up 22-2500xp easily on a good server, provided you don't get stuck with a clueless team. I've been murderous with a silenced ak47, bandolier, uav jammer, and silenced footsteps. The enemy routinely runs right past me and I just cut them to shreds. I almost hate playing without the uav jammer now, so many people are really good with the mini map at detecting where you are and where you might be heading.
So I'm running around sucking ass with the Mp5 on the PC version. -=B2Z=- Otis is my name and dying is my umm...game? Anyway. If you see me online, give me a shout. Hardcore servers only of course.
Oh god. So the server rotated to that godawful nuclear launch site map that's all outdoors with the open missile bays and such. I usually do worse than normal on that map so I decided I'd try the cheesy shit Overkill/Double Nade Launchers/Martyrdom build for kicks.
The thing that annoys me most about the nade launchers, is that they don't explode point blank. If it hits a soft target, they don't detonate but they still insta-kill the target. There is no downside to using them close range at all. Running around with 7 available grenades for spamming kills any kind of gameplay.
5 grenades. 4 in launchers, 1 frag. Cannot get 3 frags with a launcher equipped.
Also from about 2-4 meters or so it isn't an instakill, only does partial damage, which gives them time to empty their clip into you while you reload or attempt to switch to another gun. Before that it'll probably kill you, after that it explodes.
I'm not so sure about the P90. It's large cartridge and fire rate are excellent for extremely close quarters, but only few sections really lend itself to the gun. Like, the apartments on Crossfire. Vacant, Ambush, Strike, and Back Alley have too many long hallways/roads and the P90 will lose out to a rifle/LMG or a more accurate SMG any day of the week. I prefer the Mini Uzi simply because it has slightly more range and more power.
But after that, the MP5 with a silence will put down anyone. The only problem with that build is that it's completely worthless on Hardcore. :-P

edit: I had a battle that reminded me of a joke a while back. I got caught spawning in the path of the enemy, so I unloaded my m4 clip, then my m9 clip, and proceeded to take down three more guys with the knife before I died.
The joke: Little Johny has some homework to learn what it means to be a hero so he asks his uncle, who was in the war what it meant. The next day the teacher asks him what it means to be a hero and he retells the uncle's sotry. His uncle was a pilot whose plane had been shot down. Narrowly escaping, he found himself parachuting into an enemy camp with a knife, a handgun with two clips, and a bottle of rum. So, he drinks the rum and starts firing from the last twenty feet. He takes out 10 guys before he runs out of ammo, and kills the next two with his knife when the blade breaks. He kills the last with his bare hands.
The teacher is impressed with the store and asked what Johny learned and Johny replied: Don't piss my uncle off when he's drunk.
I have found my go to gun is the G3, it's great at range, to medium and even works up close if you need it to. I love idiots who stay at their starting area on wet work, makes getting a 5 kill streak a bit of a pain but once you got it, boom air strike!

Oh man. I swapped my mass effect rental for this game (scratched disk) and I've been having a blast, definitely going on my Christmas list.
It's really nice to play a game where my weapons of choice, shotguns, kick ass. I placed fifth using a rifle on a server, and then on the next round against the same people I swapped to shotgun. I placed first. Just unlocked custom classes too, so now I have extra damage tacked unto my shotgun, to hopefully eliminate the pesky scenario where I had to shoot them twice for the kill.
Bloc is a tricky map, you think its a sniper map, but it's not. You want a good ar or sub machine gun there, sniper rifles just make you an easy knife.

Eh. Depends on what type of team you're playing on and whether or not they have a group of guys storming the apartments.
I usually bust in with my silence MP5 and pick up a sniper while I'm there. Use it to take out anyone that may try to run through no mans land.
I can say I hate the "noob tube", I also am not a fan of maps that don't have a respawn timer on team death match. You don't have to have the kill camera because even though it helps me get better I hate that it gives away my postion, but a respawn timer really seems to save people from die spawn die.

There's a certain spot on Crash that I can always get, and very rarely will anyone ever bother me there. People will run by and I'll knife them, and they'll never expect it.

in regards to maps, i love wet work, but hate, HAAAAAAAATE, bloc.
Shipment is the worst map ever, wet work is just a slaughter house. I like pipeline, as it has a good mix of indoor and outdoor enviroments.
