Help me remember this game. Extra Hard Challange

Ok, you guys ready for this one?

My business just came into possession of an Apple ][e. We plan to use it with Appleworks to create an RMA database for failed parts. (I kid you not!)

Now around 1987 I remember playing a very special text adventure game that I would like to play again. Here is the clues.

1) It was written in BASIC. I remember this because I had to look at the code listing to finish the game.
2) It required you to find three pieces of a staff in order to finish
3) You had to get a pair of scuba flippers for an underwater puzzle.

Anyone care to take a stab at this?

more importantly, what world did you live in where Zelda was a text adventure?

Yeah, I just wanted some funny reactions. I have no idea what the game is.

No, those are all Z-machine games. I'm talking old school Applesoft BASIC here. I fear it might of been written locally. That's a drag because I really liked the game.
