HEY LETS PUT ALL THIS ARMOR HERE BUT LEAVE THE PLASTIC GAS TANK HANGING OUTSIDE IN THE BACK

BY THE WAY IT HAS TO BE PLASTIC

I thought the point was they are metal canisters.

As shooting plastic barrels of oil will not catch it on fire or explode it. But metal will.

It really is a pretty, pretty game. And rather fun too, I was pretty uninterested in this pre-demo but now I am seriously considering picking it up.

The only obvious flaw I saw from running at medium settings was the rather atrocious amount of pop-in for foliage on the ground. Just bad enough that it's distracting, which is a shame. I hope there's a slider for it in the full version.

    looks about right.

I honestly don't understand the point you're trying to make here. You know the game is five years old, right? And it got shut down in 2004? Those screenshots of mine are three years old.

no point about the graphics at all, just a jab at my inexperience with the space-combat genre.

It wasn't really space-combat, it was an MMORPG. Sorry for assuming it was a flame, but usually if someone responds to a post three pages and a few hours late it tends to be a flame.

From the few comparison screens I've seen, aside from some subtle extra touches with lighting effects I haven't seen too much of a graphical difference. Hoping this doesn't wind up like World in Conflict, where going from DX9 to DX10 entails a gigantic performance hit for very little extra flash.

For a couple of years now the better shooters have had large events going while using level design to attract your attention to what they want you to see, but leaving you in control, instead of scripting in "Hey fuck you look at this shit we made" events.

For some reason my FPS went to shit at the very last cutscene though, with the boat. Odd.

The demo was okay-ish. I didn't really need to use the special suit powers at any point though. I came out fine just playing it like a traditional shooter...

Also on medium settings it pretty much looked like a better FarCry.

Yeah the camera movements were weird like all FPS cutscenes. I can understand a game like Half-Life leaving you in control because they usually block you into a small area so you can't just wander off

in crysis I'm pretty sure everyone will think "forget you" and sprint off into the jungle away from the event.

I played this on medium settings at 1680*1050 with 4xAA and it kept a good framerate. Oddly enough the only place there was any slowdown (even when there was crazy physics stuff going on) was the cutscene at the end where you find the ship.

Heh, I'm currently ranked #1 for all systems with my CPU (X2 4400+)

Anyway, I have a spare copy of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars which is the best fucking game ever, ever..... if anyone wants it, I'll let it go for a song (or like, $20).

Vs something like OHHH... Half Life Episode 2 for $30.
