Democratic Debate: Round 24 And A Half

GoslingGosling Looking Up Soccer In Mongolia Right Now, ProbablyWatertown, WIRegistered User regular
edited November 2007 in Debate and/or Discourse
PLACE: Philadelphia, PA.
TIME: 8 PM Central.
NETWORK: MSNBC.
MODERATORS: Brian Williams, Tim Russert.
TONIGHT'S FIELD: The usual cast minus Gravel, who didn't poll high enough to be invited.

There would be more description, but I just woke up, turned on MSNBC, saw a "Democratic Debate" countdown clock and went 'holy shit, really?' So here we go again, gang.

In any event, the preview coverage has Elizabeth Kucinich getting interviewed next, which was probably a big get for MSNBC or else why the hell would you bother with interviewing the wife of a candidate who's still in 1 Percent Land?

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

    Dude, she's a total hottie.

I mean, if the President were elected by first-lady beauty contest, Kucinich would already be putting boxes in the Oval Office.

Though I'd like to see that too, come to think of it. Kucinich moderating the debate.

I saw the movie Primary Colors this morning. A family friend of the Clintons is upbraiding Bill for cheating and says something to the effect of "You don't go to hell for your cheating, your wife does. That's why she talks with that cold inhuman voice from hell."

That's what I'm going to think of when I listen to Hillary tonight.

And so it appears we're not going to be treated to Gravel tonight. There was a polling threshold to get invited and he's the only guy who didn't meet it. Everyone else in the usual cast will be there again.

Thompson would win based on that.

The Midwesterner that made the thread and who goes by CST, that's who. It's the Phalla Principle: You make the thread, you get to bend time to your will.

I don't like the hair color. I'm a huge fan of auburn red hair, but no so much the red/super pale thing.

She's still decently good looking. But not really my type.

I lol'd when the Ron Paul supporters were shouting over Chris Matthews a couple minutes ago.

It sounds like these pundits are running out of things to say about the debate -- and there's still an hour and fifteen to go. It's obviously not going to stop them from talking, though.

Edit: Now they're talking about why Philadelphia is such a tough city. (This is on Hardball)

Yeah, I think the media's beginning to realize that perhaps starting this early isn't exactly the best of scenarios.

Hell, earlier one of the reporters did a field piece on a DC bar that made one drink themed after every last candidate in order to predict the winners. It began to resemble the Vitameatavegemin sketch at the end. (Buried deep in the piece was the part where nobody was equating candidate choice to drink choice.)

I tried that, then got "Video unavailable", then it drops to the next video in line. Every URL I've gotten from the player has been .flv(flash), so it's probably not in windows media format anyway.

Edit: The URL to the particular video is http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=msnbc&vid=6f7854c3-ec3e-4f91-8191-4c7b9390b7b2

Because not everyone wants to watch it embedded in a browser, which doesn't appear to be optional this time around.
