I just saw Boondock Saints and loved. Can anyone give me some suggestions of other good movies with similar themes? Maybe more movies about the Irish kicking ass? Or how the Catholic church rules?
Thanks

If you're talking about movies with people cutting broad swatches of vengeance then I reccomend Man on Fire, Payback, and Collateral (though I'm not sure if that last one really qualifies as a lot of vengeance - but I still liked it).
The Departed was all sorts of bad ass - I second that nomination.
Boondock Saints II, whenever they actually finish it. Or start it for that matter. It was announced a year after the first one was released, but I haven't word since.
I liked Boondock Saints, but maybe for a few different reasons. The action was great, but I think the themes of friendship/family and the comedy spread throughout basically separated the movie from being a forgettable action movie. Some movies in similar veins (Irish, "wanna-be" gangsters, and/or Catholicism) that I enjoyed were:
Knockaround Guys - Vin Diesel, I know, but this movie was a real surprise to me. General action buddy flick, but has some great funny lines.
State of Grace - Irish Mob movie that follows some of the themes of other movies mentioned here. Sean Penn semi-ruins it for me, but I know a lot of people like his style. Probably closest to Boondock Saints you will find.
Gangs of New York - Basically an Irish come to America movie that, while somewhat over stylized for me, is a watchable flick. Got to love that they used an Italian director and Italian actors though.
Bottle Rocket - This is a big leap, but a genuinely funny "heist" movie that follows some good themes of what someone would do for a friend. Short of the actual violence and ass-kicking, it leans more towards a comedy but is done in that great Wes Anderson way.
The Exorcist (Pretty much any in the series) - I think this is probably the only movie where Catholics are shown as realistic, supernatural ass kickers. There are some like Van Helsing or whatever but this one shows the faith being used for something.
Cinderella Man - Irish-Catholic boxer fights for the impoverished masses during the Great Depression. Super hyped, somewhat delivers.
Angela's Ashes - For my money, "the" movie when it comes to portraying gritty life in Ireland. Very well done, a dark atmosphere and a well done movie throughout.
Made - Two buddies team up to try and join the Mafia. Hijinx. Funny pretty much throughout with some great writing. Not quite Swingers, but still good.
Road to Perdition - Irish hitman goes on a vengeance spree in 1930's era mafia movie. Based on a (superior, in my opinion) graphic novel. Was a pretty big hit.
Now, most of these aren't unknown or underground or anything, but they are somewhat close and I hope are what you are looking for.
