You know, I was convinced that tonight's update would be fuckawesome, I refused to believe the handicap thing. But it's true. "Meh" doesn't even begin to cover it.
On the other hand, it is pretty cool that you can start a match at whatever damage.
Handicaps = the ultimate meh. My group has a strict "no quarter" policy. I want to see the Captain come down the pipe, but I think I may require Ganondorf now to make up for this.
EDIT:
Okay guys, time for us to band together and make 20 pages worth of posts to excite the morning folk!
If it had just been a one or two minute wait for that, I wouldn't mind. But twenty minutes, dogg. C'mon. Way to cocktease us, Sakurai!
It's like expecting mindblowing sex and getting a sloppy handjob in return.
And then they just stop halfway through. Ugh.
That's what you get when you go handicapped for sex.
I feel like a terrible person now.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Be kind to beginners! If all you do in brawls is beat up people who don’t know left from right, they’ll never understand the rules of the game, right?
So until now, I’ve always made sure to include handicaps in each game in the series.
But, I began to think that there isn’t much thrill in just making yourself weaker, so I changed the system.
First, find the Handicap option on the Rules screen.
Then you’ll see something new.
Click-click-click! Ratchet up the handicap.
You start with your initial damage meter boosted!
Even when you reappear.
The strength of each character doesn’t change, so then you can show your skills to your opponent!
Also, you can use this not only for handicapping, but also for starting all players at the same damage—it’ll give you matches with a slightly different feel.
Now, I’ve also kept the auto-handicap feature. This gradually increases the starting damage for the winner of the match.
I swear to god guys. It's me. Everytime I stay up for a update it sucks balls. When I don't we get fucking Mii's and a movie with Captain Falcon Falcon Punching through a city ordinance bus.

I'm going to go ahead and point out that he used the same phrase (いままで / Imamade - "Until now" or "So far") to describe handicaps being in each game in the series so far that he used to describe Ness being in the series so far.

Wow, cruelest title ever. Why did tonight need to be so disappointing after the promising delay?
I guess the old handicap system is outdated anyway since you can set the knockback ratio already, so I guess it's nice to see a slight change...but not at the expense of an awesome update.

Sure. Just ignore what the date actually is.
Force Nintendo to use another terrible update to show its disapproval of your conception. (Hopefully we'll actually get an awesome update tomorrow

Choose the Auto setting from the same option.
